The Day of Atonement
Now the Lord spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered profane fire before the Lord, and died;

І сказав Господь до Мойсея: „Промовляй до Ааро́на, брата свого, і нехай він не входить кожного ча́су до святині за завісу, перед віко, що на ковче́зі, — щоб не вмер він, бо Я в хмарі являюся над тим віком.
and the Lord said to Moses: “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud above the mercy seat.
З оцим уві́йде Ааро́н до святині, — з теля́м на жертву за гріх та з барано́м на цілопа́лення.
Він зодя́гне свяще́нного льняно́го хіто́на, і льняна́ спі́дня одіж буде на тілі його, і підпере́жеться льняним поясом, і обви́неться льняним завоєм, — вони свяще́нні ша́ти. І обмиє в воді своє тіло, та й зодя́гне він їх.
He shall put the holy linen tunic and the linen trousers on his body; he shall be girded with a linen sash, and with the linen turban he shall be attired. These are holy garments. Therefore he shall wash his body in water, and put them on.
А від громади Ізра́їлевих синів ві́зьме він два козли на жертву за гріх та одного барана́ на цілопалення.
And he shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats as a sin offering, and one ram as a burnt offering.
І принесе Ааро́н теля жертви за гріх, що належить йому, та й очистить себе та свій дім.
“Aaron shall offer the bull as a sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.
І ві́зьме він обох тих козлів, та й поставить їх перед Господнім лицем при вході скинії заповіту.
He shall take the two goats and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
І кине Аарон на обох тих козлів жеребки́, — один жеребо́к для Господа, і один жеребок для Азазеля.
Then Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for the Lord and the other lot for the scapegoat.
І принесе Аарон козла, що на нього вийшов жеребо́к для Господа, і вчинить його жертвою за гріх.
And Aaron shall bring the goat on which the Lord’s lot fell, and offer it as a sin offering.
А козел, що на нього випав жеребо́к для Азазеля, буде поставлений живим перед Господнє лице, щоб очистити його, і щоб послати його до Азазеля на пустиню.
But the goat on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make atonement upon it, and to let it go as the scapegoat into the wilderness.
І принесе Аарон бичка жертви за гріх, що належить йому, та й очистить себе та свій дім; і заріже бичка́ жертви за гріх, що належить йому.
“And Aaron shall bring the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull as the sin offering which is for himself.
І ві́зьме повну кадильницю горючого вугілля з-над жертівника перед Господнім лицем, і повні жмені свої тонко то́вченого запашно́го кадила, та й внесе за завісу.
Then he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from the altar before the Lord, with his hands full of sweet incense beaten fine, and bring it inside the veil.
І покладе він те кадило на огонь перед Господнім лицем, а хмара кадила закриє віко, що над свідоцтвом, — щоб він не помер.
And he shall put the incense on the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the Testimony, lest he die.
І візьме він крови бичка, та й покропить пальцем своїм на пе́реді віка на схід, а перед віком покро́пить з кро́ви сім раз своїм пальцем.
He shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
І заріже козла жертви за гріх, що належить наро́дові, і внесе його кров за завісу, та й зробить із кров'ю його, як зробив був із кров'ю теляти, — і покропить її на віко та перед віком.
“Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, which is for the people, bring its blood inside the veil, do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat.
І очистить він святиню з нечистости Ізраїлевих синів та з їхніх пере́ступів через усі гріхи їхні. І так він зробить для скинії заповіту, що знаходиться з ними серед їхньої нечистости.
So he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, for all their sins; and so he shall do for the tabernacle of meeting which remains among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
І жоден чоловік не буде в скинії заповіту, коли він входить на очищення до святині, аж до ви́ходу його. І очистить він себе та дім свій, та всю громаду Ізра́їлеву.
There shall be no man in the tabernacle of meeting when he goes in to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, that he may make atonement for himself, for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.
І ви́йде він до жертівника, що перед Господнім лицем, та й очистить його; і ві́зьме крови теляти й крови козла, та й дасть на ро́ги жертівника навколо.
And he shall go out to the altar that is before the Lord, and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar all around.
І покропить на нього з крови пальцем своїм сім раз, та й очистить його, та освятить його від нечистости Ізраїлевих синів.
А коли він скінчи́ть очищення святині й скинії заповіту та жертівника, то приведе живого козла.
“And when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the tabernacle of meeting, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat.
І покладе Аарон оби́дві руки свої на голову живого козла, і ви́знає над ним усі гріхи Ізра́їлевих синів та всі їхні провини через усі їхні гріхи, і складе їх на голову козла, та й пошле через призначеного чоловіка на пустиню.
Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man.
І понесе той козел на собі всі їхні гріхи до кра́ю неврожайного, і пустить того козла в пустиню.
І ввійде Ааро́н до скинії запові́ту, і зді́йме льняні шати, що зодягнув був при вході його до святині, і покладе їх там.
“Then Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of meeting, shall take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there.
І обмиє він тіло своє в воді в місці святім, і зодя́гне шати свої та й вийде, і вчинить цілопа́лення своє та цілопалення за наро́д, і очистить себе та наро́д.
А лій жертви за гріх спалить на жертівнику.
The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar.
А той, хто відводив козла до Азазеля, випере одежу свою й обмиє тіло своє в воді, а потому вві́йде до табо́ру.
And he who released the goat as the scapegoat shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp.
А теля жертви за гріх та козла жертви за гріх, що їхню кров вне́сено на очищення в святині, ви́провадять поза та́бір, та й спалять в огні їхні шкури, і їхнє м'ясо та їхні нечи́стости.
The bull for the sin offering and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp. And they shall burn in the fire their skins, their flesh, and their offal.
А той, хто їх палить, випере одежу свою й обмиє своє тіло в воді, а пото́му вві́йде до табо́ру.
Then he who burns them shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp.
І це стане для вас на вічну постанову, — сьо́мого місяця, десятого дня місяця бу́дете впокоряти ваші душі, і жодної праці не робитимете ви, ані тубі́лець, ані прихо́дько, що мешкає серед вас,
бо того дня буде окуп ваш на очи́щення ваше, — зо всіх гріхів ваших станете чисті перед Господом.
Субота повного відпочинку від праці вона для вас, і ви будете впокоряти душі свої, — це вічна постанова.
It is a sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever.
А очистить той священик, що пома́зали його, і що посвятили його бути священиком замість батька свого. І зодя́гне він льняні шати, шати священні,
And the priest, who is anointed and consecrated to minister as priest in his father’s place, shall make atonement, and put on the linen clothes, the holy garments;
та й очистить Святеє Святих, і скинію заповіту, і жертівника очистить, і очистить священиків та ввесь наро́д громади.
І буде це для вас на вічну постанову на очи́щення Ізраїлевих синів зо всіх їхніх гріхів раз у році“. І він учинив, як Господь наказав був Мойсеєві.
This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel, for all their sins, once a year.” And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.
