    Послухайте сло́ва того́, що Господь говорив проти вас, сино́ве Ізраїлеві, на ввесь оцей рід, що його Я підніс був із кра́ю єгипетського, промовляючи:

    Listen to this message that the LORD has spoken against you, O people of Israel — against the entire family I rescued from Egypt:

    Тільки вас Я пізнав зо всіх ро́дів землі, тому вас навіщу́ за всі ваші провини!

    “From among all the families on the earth,
    I have been intimate with you alone.
    That is why I must punish you
    for all your sins.”

    Чи йдуть двоє ра́зом, якщо не умо́вились?

    Can two people walk together
    without agreeing on the direction?
  • 4
    Чи реве́ в лісі лев, як нема йому здо́бичі? Чи левчу́к видає голос свій із своєї нори́, якщо він не зловив?

    Does a lion ever roar in a thicket
    without first finding a victim?
    Does a young lion growl in its den
    without first catching its prey?

    Чи впаде́ на землі пташка в сітку, як немає сільця́? Чи піді́йметься сітка з землі, як нічого не зло́вить?

    Does a bird ever get caught in a trap
    that has no bait?
    Does a trap spring shut
    when there’s nothing to catch?

    Чи в місті засурмля́ть у сурму́, а наро́д не тремті́тиме? Чи станеться в місті нещастя, що його́ не Госпо́дь допусти́в?

    When the ram’s horn blows a warning,
    shouldn’t the people be alarmed?
    Does disaster come to a city
    unless the LORD has planned it?

    Бо не чинить нічо́го Господь Бог, не ви́явивши таємни́ці Своєї Своїм рабам пророкам.

    Indeed, the Sovereign LORD never does anything
    until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets.

    Лев зареве́, — хто того́ не злякається? Господь Бог заговорить, — хто пророкувати не бу́де?

    The lion has roared —
    so who isn’t frightened?
    The Sovereign LORD has spoken —
    so who can refuse to proclaim his message?

    Розголосіть над пала́цами в Ашдоді, і над пала́тами в кра́ї єгипетському, та й скажіть: Позбирайтеся на гора́х Самарі́ї, і побачте велике збенте́ження в ній, та у́тиск у ній!

    Announce this to the leaders of Philistiaa
    and to the great ones of Egypt:
    “Take your seats now on the hills around Samaria,
    and witness the chaos and oppression in Israel.”

    І правдиво не вміють робити вони, — говорить Господь, — наси́льство грома́дять та грабу́нок в пала́тах своїх.

    “My people have forgotten how to do right,”
    says the LORD.
    “Their fortresses are filled with wealth
    taken by theft and violence.
  • 11
    Тому́ так Господь Бог промовляє: Ворог обля́же навколо цієї землі, і скине із тебе він силу твою́, і пограбо́вані бу́дуть пала́ти твої.

    Therefore,” says the Sovereign LORD,
    “an enemy is coming!
    He will surround them and shatter their defenses.
    Then he will plunder all their fortresses.”

    Так говорить Господь: Як ча́сом рятує пастух з пащі ле́в'ячої дві колі́ні, або пи́пку вуха, так будуть врято́вані діти Ізраїлеві, що сидять в Самарі́ї в заку́точку ліжка, та на адама́шку постелі.

    This is what the LORD says:
    “A shepherd who tries to rescue a sheep from a lion’s mouth
    will recover only two legs or a piece of an ear.
    So it will be for the Israelites in Samaria lying on luxurious beds,
    and for the people of Damascus reclining on couches.b

    Послухайте ви та й засві́дчіть ув Якововім домі, говорить Господь Бог, Бог Савао́т.

    “Now listen to this, and announce it throughout all Israel,c” says the Lord, the LORD God of Heaven’s Armies.

    Бо в той день, коли Я покараю Ізраїля за провини його, то Я покараю за же́ртівники Бет-Елу, — і будуть відру́бані роги же́ртівника, і на землю попа́дають.

    “On the very day I punish Israel for its sins,
    I will destroy the pagan altars at Bethel.
    The horns of the altar will be cut off
    and fall to the ground.

    І Я розіб'ю́ дім зимо́вий разом з домом літнім, і заги́нуть доми́ із слоно́вої кости, і не стане багато домі́в, говорить Госпо́дь.
  • 15
    And I will destroy the beautiful homes of the wealthy —
    their winter mansions and their summer houses, too —
    all their palaces filled with ivory,”
    says the LORD.
