Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish,

saying,
“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,
and he answered me;
out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
and you heard my voice.

та й казав: „Я кли́кав з нещастя свого до Господа, — і відповідь дав Він мені, із ну́тра шеолу кричав я, — і почув Ти мій голос!
For you cast me into the deep,
into the heart of the seas,
and the flood surrounded me;
all your waves and your billows
passed over me.

І Ти кинув мене в глибочі́нь, у серце моря, і поті́к оточив був мене. Усі хвилі Твої та буру́ни Твої надо мною пройшли́.

from your sight;
yet I shall again look
upon your holy temple.’

І сказав я: Я ви́гнаний з-перед очей Твоїх, проте́ ще побачу я храм Твій святий.

Вода аж по душу мене обгорну́ла, безо́дня мене оточи́ла, очере́т обвива́є круго́м мою го́лову!

Я зійшов аж до спо́ду гори, а земля — її за́суви стали за мною навіки! Та піді́ймеш із ями життя моє, Господи, Боже Ти мій!

and my prayer came to you,
into your holy temple.

Як у мені омлівала душа моя, Господа я спогада́в, — і молитва моя ця до Тебе доли́нула, до храму святого Твого!
