Levites to Be Priesthood
Now these are the records of the generations of Aaron and Moses at the time when the LORD spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.

І оце імена́ Ааронових синів: перворідний Надав, і Авігу, Елеазар та Ітамар.
These then are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
Оце імена́ Ааронових синів, пома́заних священиків, що він посвятив їх бути священиками.
These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, whom he ordained to serve as priests.
Та помер Надав та Авігу перед Господнім лицем, коли вони прине́сли були чужий огонь перед Господнім лицем у Сінайській пустині, а синів у них не було. І були священиками Елеазар та Ітамар за життя батька свого Ааро́на.
But Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD when they offered strange fire before the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests in the lifetime of their father Aaron.
„Приведи Левієве пле́м'я, і постав його перед священиком Аароном, — і вони будуть услуго́вувати йому.
“Bring the tribe of Levi near and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him.
І будуть вони вико́нувати сторо́жу його та всієї громади перед скинією заповіту, щоб виконувати службу скині́йну.
“They shall perform the duties for him and for the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle.
І будуть вони стерегти́ всі речі скинії запові́ту та сторо́жу Ізраїлевих синів, щоб виконувати службу скинійну.
“They shall also keep all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, along with the duties of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.
І даси Левитів Ааро́нові та синам його, — власне йому вони дані від Ізраїлевих синів.
“You shall thus give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons; they are wholly given to him from among the sons of Israel.
А Аарона та синів його постав, щоб вони пильнували свого свяще́нства, а чужий, хто набли́зиться, — буде забитий“.
“So you shall appoint Aaron and his sons that they may keep their priesthood, but the layman who comes near shall be put to death.”
„А Я оце взяв Левитів з-посеред Ізраїлевих синів замість кожного перворідного, що розкривають утро́бу, з Ізраїлевих синів. І будуть Леви́ти Мої,
“Now, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the sons of Israel instead of every firstborn, the first issue of the womb among the sons of Israel. So the Levites shall be Mine.
бо Мій кожен перворідний. Того дня, коли Я був ударив кожного перворідного в єгипетськім кра́ї, Я посвятив Собі кожного перворідного в Ізраїлі від люди́ни аж до скотини, — Мої вони будуть. Я — Господь!“
“For all the firstborn are Mine; on the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to Myself all the firstborn in Israel, from man to beast. They shall be Mine; I am the LORD.”
І Господь промовляв до Мойсея в Сінайській пустині, говорячи:
Then the LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,
„Перелічи Левієвих синів за дома́ми їхніх батьків, за ро́дами їхніми, кожного чоловічої статі від місячного віку й вище перелічиш їх“.
“Number the sons of Levi by their fathers’ households, by their families; every male from a month old and upward you shall number.”
І Мойсей перелічив їх за Господнім словом, як йому наказано.
So Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD, just as he had been commanded.
І були за йменнями своїми оці Левієві сини: Ґершон, і Кегат, і Мерарі.
These then are the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon and Kohath and Merari.
А оце імена́ Ґершоно́вих синів за їхніми родами: Лівні та Шім'ї.
These are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Libni and Shimei;
А сини Кега́тові за їхніми родами: Амрам і Їцгар, Хеврон і Уззіїл.
and the sons of Kohath by their families: Amram and Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel;
А сини Мерарі за їхніми родами: Махлі та Муші. Оце вони, роди Левієві, за домами своїх батьків.
and the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers’ households.
Від Ґершо́на: рід Лівнієвих та рід Шім'їєвих. Оце вони, роди Ґершонових.
Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites and the family of the Shimeites; these were the families of the Gershonites.
Перелічені їхні числом кожного чоловічої статі від місячного віку й вище, перелічені їхні — сім тисяч і п'ятсо́т.
Their numbered men, in the numbering of every male from a month old and upward, even their numbered men were 7,500.
Роди Ґершонових будуть таборува́ти за наме́том на за́хід.
The families of the Gershonites were to camp behind the tabernacle westward,
А начальник ба́тьківського дому Ґершонових — Ел'ясаф, син Лаїлів.
and the leader of the fathers’ households of the Gershonites was Eliasaph the son of Lael.
А до́гляд Ґершонових синів у скинії заповіту: скинія внутрішня і наме́т зовнішній, і покриття́ його, і заві́са входу скинії заповіту,
Duties of the Priests
Now the duties of the sons of Gershon in the tent of meeting involved the tabernacle and the tent, its covering, and the screen for the doorway of the tent of meeting,
і запони подвір'я, і засло́на входу подві́р'я, що на скинії та на же́ртівнику навко́ло, і шнури її — до всієї служби його.
and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the doorway of the court which is around the tabernacle and the altar, and its cords, according to all the service concerning them.
А від Кегата: рід Амрамових, і рід Іцхарових, і рід Хевронових, і рід Оззіїлових, — оце вони, роди Кегатових.
Of Kohath was the family of the Amramites and the family of the Izharites and the family of the Hebronites and the family of the Uzzielites; these were the families of the Kohathites.
Числом кожного чоловічої статі від місячного віку й вище, — вісім тисяч і шістсо́т, що пильнували сторо́жу святині.
In the numbering of every male from a month old and upward, there were 8,600, performing the duties of the sanctuary.
Роди Кегатових синів ота́боряться на подовжньому боці скинії на пі́вдень.
The families of the sons of Kohath were to camp on the southward side of the tabernacle,
А начальник ба́тькового дому родів Кегатових Еліцафан, син Уззіїлів.
and the leader of the fathers’ households of the Kohathite families was Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.
А їхній догляд: ковче́г, і стіл, і свічник, і жертівники, і святі речі, що служать ними, і завіса, — і вся служба при тому.
Now their duties involved the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, and the utensils of the sanctuary with which they minister, and the screen, and all the service concerning them;
А начальник Левієвих начальників — Елеазар, син священика Ааро́на, що мав догляд над тими, хто пильнує сторо́жу святині.
and Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest was the chief of the leaders of Levi, and had the oversight of those who perform the duties of the sanctuary.
Від Мерарі: рід Махлієвих, і рід Мушієвих, — оце вони, роди Мерарієві.
Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites and the family of the Mushites; these were the families of Merari.
А перелічені їхні числом кожного чоловічої статі від місячного віку й вище, — шість тисяч і двісті.
Their numbered men in the numbering of every male from a month old and upward, were 6,200.
А начальник ба́тьківського дому Мерарієвих родів — Цуріїл, син Авіхаїлів. Вони ота́боряться на подовжнім боці скинії на пі́вніч.
The leader of the fathers’ households of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail. They were to camp on the northward side of the tabernacle.
А догляд сторо́жі Мерарієвих синів: дошки скинії, і засо́ви її, і стовпи́ її, і підста́ви її, і всі речі її, — і вся служба її,
Now the appointed duties of the sons of Merari involved the frames of the tabernacle, its bars, its pillars, its sockets, all its equipment, and the service concerning them,
і стовпи́ подві́р'я навко́ло, і їхні підстави, і кілки́ їхні, і їхні шну́ри.
and the pillars around the court with their sockets and their pegs and their cords.
А ті, що таборують спе́реду перед скинією, перед скинією заповіту на схід, Мойсей й Ааро́н та сини його, — вони виконують сторо́жу святині, сторожу за Ізраїлевих синів. А чужий, хто набли́зиться, — буде забитий.
Now those who were to camp before the tabernacle eastward, before the tent of meeting toward the sunrise, are Moses and Aaron and his sons, performing the duties of the sanctuary for the obligation of the sons of Israel; but the layman coming near was to be put to death.
Усі перелічені Леви́тів, що перелічив Мойсей та Ааро́н на Господній нака́з за їхніми родами, кожен чоловічої статі від місячного віку й вище, — двадцять і дві тисячі.
All the numbered men of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered at the command of the LORD by their families, every male from a month old and upward, were 22,000.
І сказав Господь до Мойсея: „Перелічи всіх перворідних чоловічої статі Ізраїлевих синів від місячного віку й вище, і перелічи число імен їх.
Firstborn Redeemed
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Number every firstborn male of the sons of Israel from a month old and upward, and make a list of their names.
І візьми для Мене Леви́тів — Я — Госпо́дь! — замість кожного перворідного Ізраїлевих синів, а худобу Левитів — замість кожного перворідного серед худоби Ізраїлевих синів“.
“You shall take the Levites for Me, I am the LORD, instead of all the firstborn among the sons of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the cattle of the sons of Israel.”
І перелічив Мойсей, як Господь наказав був йому, усіх перворідних серед Ізраїлевих синів.
So Moses numbered all the firstborn among the sons of Israel, just as the LORD had commanded him;
І було всіх перворідних чоловічої статі числом імен від місячного віку й вище, за їхніми переліченими — двадцять і дві тисячі двісті і сімдесят і три.
and all the firstborn males by the number of names from a month old and upward, for their numbered men were 22,273.
„Візьми Леви́тів замість кожного перворідного серед Ізраїлевих синів, а худобу Леви́тів — замість їхньої худоби, і будуть Левити Мої. Я — Господь!
“Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the sons of Israel and the cattle of the Levites. And the Levites shall be Mine; I am the LORD.
А на о́куп тих двохсо́т і семидесяти́ і трьох, що позостали понад Левитами з перворідного Ізраїлевих синів,
“For the ransom of the 273 of the firstborn of the sons of Israel who are in excess beyond the Levites,
то візьми по п'яти шеклів на го́лову, на міру шеклем святині ві́зьмеш, — двадцять ґер шекель,
you shall take five shekels apiece, per head; you shall take them in terms of the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel is twenty gerahs),
і даси ті гроші Ааронові та синам його, як о́куп за позосталих серед них“.
and give the money, the ransom of those who are in excess among them, to Aaron and to his sons.”
І взяв Мойсей гроші окупу від позосталих понад ви́куплених Левитами,
So Moses took the ransom money from those who were in excess, beyond those ransomed by the Levites;
від перворідного Ізраїлевих синів узяв він ті гроші, — тисячу і триста і шістдеся́т і п'ять на міру ше́клем святині.
from the firstborn of the sons of Israel he took the money in terms of the shekel of the sanctuary, 1,365.
