Matthew 19

    І сталось, як Ісус закінчи́в ці слова́, то Він ви́рушив із Галілеї, і прибув до країни Юдейської, на то́й бік Йорда́ну.

    Marriage and Divorce

    Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He departed from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan.

    А за Ним ішла бе́зліч наро́ду, — і Він уздоро́вив їх тут.

    And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there.
  • 3
    І підійшли фарисеї до Нього, і, випробо́вуючи, запитали Його: „Чи дозволено дружи́ну свою відпускати з причини всякої?“

    The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

    А Він відповів і сказав: „Чи ви не читали, що Той, Хто створив споконві́ку людей, „створив їх чоловіком і жінкою?“

    And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who [a]made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’

    І сказав: „Покине тому́ чоловік батька й матір, і пристане до дружи́ни своєї, — і стануть обо́є вони одним тілом“,

    and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?

    тому́ то немає вже двох, але́ одне тіло. Тож, що Бог спарува́в, — людина нехай не розлу́чує!“

    So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

    Вони кажуть Йому: „А чому́ ж Мойсей заповів дати листа розводо́вого, та й відпускати?“

    They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”
  • 8
    Він говорить до них: „То за ваше жорстокосе́рдя дозволив Мойсей відпускати дружи́н ваших, споча́тку ж так не було́.

    He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.
  • 9
    А Я вам кажу́: Хто дружи́ну відпустить свою не з причини пере́любу, і одру́житься з іншою, той чинить пере́люб. І хто одру́житься з розве́деною, той чинить пере́люб“.

    And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for [b]sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”

    Учні говорять Йому: „Коли справа така чоловіка із дружи́ною, то не добре одру́жуватись“.

    His disciples said to Him, “If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry.”

    А Він їм відказав: „Це слово вміщають не всі, але ті, кому да́но.

    Jesus Teaches on Celibacy

    But He said to them, “All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given:

    Бо бувають скопці, що з утро́би ще матерньої народилися так; є й скопці, що їх люди оскопи́ли, і є скопці, що самі оскопи́ли себе ради Царства Небесного. Хто може вмістити, — нехай вмістить“.

    For there are [c]eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.”

    Jesus Blesses Little Children

    Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.

    Ісус же сказав: „Пустіть ді́ток, і не бороніть їм прихо́дити до Мене, — бо Царство Небесне належить таким“.

    But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

    І Він руки на них покла́в, та й пішов звідтіля́.

    And He laid His hands on them and departed from there.
  • 16
    І підійшов ось один, і до Нього сказав: „Учителю Добрий, що маю зробити я доброго, щоб мати життя вічне?“

    Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler

    Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good[d] Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

    Він же йому відказав: „Чого звеш Мене Добрим? Ніхто не є Добрий, крім Бога Само́го. Коли ж хочеш ввійти до життя, то виконай заповіді“.

    So He said to him, [e]“Why do you call Me good? [f]No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

    Той питає Його: „Які саме!“ А Ісус відказав: „Не вбивай, не чини пере́любу, не кради́, не свідкуй неправдиво.
  • 18
    He said to Him, “Which ones?”
    Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’

    Шануй батька та матір“, і: „Люби свого ближнього, як само́го себе“.
  • 19
    ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

    Говорить до Нього юна́к: „Це я виконав все. Чого́ ще бракує мені?“

    The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept [g]from my youth. What do I still lack?”

    Ісус каже йому: „Коли хочеш бути досконалим, — піди, продай до́бра свої та й убогим роздай, — і матимеш скарб ти на небі. Пото́му приходь та й іди вслід за Мною“.

    Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

    Почувши ж юна́к таке слово, відійшов, зажурившись, — бо великі маєтки він мав.

    But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
  • 23
    Ісус же сказав Своїм учням: Поправді кажу вам, що багатому трудно ввійти в Царство Небесне.

    With God All Things Are Possible

    Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

    Іще вам кажу́: Верблю́дові легше пройти через го́лчине ву́шко, ніж багатому в Боже Царство ввійти́!“

    And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

    Як учні ж Його це зачули, здивувалися дуже й сказали: „Хто́ ж тоді може спасти́ся?“

    When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

    А Ісус позирнув і сказав їм: „Неможливе це лю́дям, та можливе все Богові“.

    But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

    Тоді відізвався Петро та до Нього сказав: „От усе ми покинули, та й пішли за Тобою слідом; що́ ж нам буде за це?“

    Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?”

    А Ісус відказав їм: „Поправді кажу́ вам, що коли, при відно́вленні світу, Син Лю́дський засяде на престолі слави Своєї, тоді сядете й ви, що за Мною пішли, на дванадцять престолів, щоб судити дванадцять племе́н Ізраїлевих.

    So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

    І кожен, хто за Йме́ння Моє кине дім, чи братів, чи сесте́р, або ба́тька, чи матір, чи діти, чи зе́млі, — той багатокротно одержить і успадку́є вічне життя.

    And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother [h]or wife or children or [i]lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

    І багато-хто з перших останніми стануть, а останні — першими.

    But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
