Був один чоловік із фарисеїв Никоди́м на ім'я́, начальник юдейський.
Jesus and Nicodemus
But there was a man from among the Pharisees, his name Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
But there was a man from among the Pharisees, his name Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
Він до Нього прийшов уночі, та й промовив Йому: „Учителю, знаємо ми, що прийшов Ти від Бога, як Учитель, — бо не може ніхто таких чуд учинити, які чиниш Ти, коли Бог із ним не буде“.
he came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art come a teacher from God, for none can do these signs that thou doest unless God be with him.
Ісус відповів і до нього сказав: „Поправді, поправді кажу́ Я тобі: Коли хто не наро́диться згори́, то не може побачити Божого Царства“.
Jesus answered and said to him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except any one be born anew he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Никоди́м Йому каже: „Як може люди́на родитися, бувши старою? Хіба може вона ввійти до утро́би своїй матері зно́ву й родитись?“
Nicodemus says to him, How can a man be born being old? can he enter a second time into the womb of his mother and be born?
Ісус відповів: „Поправді, поправді кажу́ Я тобі: Коли хто не ро́диться з води й Духа, той не може ввійти в Царство Боже.
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except any one be born of water and of Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Що вродилося з тіла — є тіло, що ж уродилося з Духа — є Дух.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Не дивуйся тому́, що сказав Я тобі: Вам необхі́дно родитись згори́.
Do not wonder that I said to thee, It is needful that *ye* should be born anew.
Вітер віє, де хоче, і його голос ти чуєш, та не відаєш, звідкіля́ він приходить, і куди він іде. Так буває і з кожним, хто від Духа наро́джений“.
The wind blows where it will, and thou hearest its voice, but knowest not whence it comes and where it goes: thus is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Відповів Никоди́м і до Нього сказав: „Як це статися може?“
Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?
Ісус відповів і до нього сказав: „Ти — учитель ізра́їльський, — то чи ж цього не знаєш?
Jesus answered and said to him, Thou art the teacher of Israel and knowest not these things!
Поправді, поправді кажу́ Я тобі: Ми говоримо те, що ми знаємо, а сві́дчимо про те, що́ ми бачили, але сві́дчення нашого ви не приймаєте.
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that which we know, and we bear witness of that which we have seen, and ye receive not our witness.
Коли Я говорив вам про зе́мне, та не вірите ви, то я́к же повірите ви, коли Я говоритиму вам про небесне?
If I have said the earthly things to you, and ye believe not, how, if I say the heavenly things to you, will ye believe?
І не схо́див на небо ніхто, тільки Той, Хто з неба зійшов, — Людський Син, що на небі.
And no one has gone up into heaven, save he who came down out of heaven, the Son of man who is in heaven.
І, як Мойсей підні́с змі́я в пустині, так мусить піднесений бути й Син Лю́дський,
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, thus must the Son of man be lifted up,
щоб кожен, хто вірує в Нього, мав вічне життя.
that every one who believes on him may [not perish, but] have life eternal.
Так бо Бог полюбив світ, що дав Сина Свого Одноро́дженого, щоб кожен, хто вірує в Нього, не згинув, але мав життя вічне.
For God So Loved
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.

Бо Бог не послав Свого Сина на світ, щоб Він світ засуди́в, але щоб через Нього світ спасся.
For God has not sent his Son into the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him.
Хто вірує в Нього, не буде засу́джений; хто ж не вірує, — той вже засуджений, що не повірив в Ім'я́ Одноро́дженого Сина Божого.
He that believes on him is not judged: but he that believes not has been already judged, because he has not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God.
Суд же такий, що світло на світ прибуло́, люди ж те́мряву більш полюбили, як світло, — лихі бо були́ їхні вчинки!
And this is the judgment, that light is come into the world, and men have loved darkness rather than light; for their works were evil.
Бо кожен, хто робить лихе, нена́видить світло, і не приходить до світла, щоб не зганено вчинків його.
For every one that does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light that his works may not be shewn as they are;
А хто робить за правдою, той до світла йде, щоб діла його виявились, бо зроблені в Бозі вони“.
but he that practises the truth comes to the light, that his works may be manifested that they have been wrought in God.
По цьому прийшов Ісус та учні Його до країни Юдейської, і з ними Він там проживав та христив.
John's Testimony Concerning Jesus
After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he abode with them and baptised.

А Іван теж христив в Ено́ні побли́зу Сали́му, бо було там багато води; і прихо́дили люди й христились,
And John also was baptising in Aenon, near Salim, because there was a great deal of water there; and they came to [him] and were baptised:
І зчинилось змага́ння Іванових учнів з юдеями — про очи́щення.
There was therefore a reasoning of the disciples of John with a Jew about purification.
І прийшли до Івана вони та й сказали йому: „Учителю, Той, Хто був із тобою по то́й бік Йорда́ну, про Якого ти свідчив, — ото христить і Він, і до Нього всі йдуть“.
And they came to John and said to him, Rabbi, he who was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, he baptises, and all come to him.
Іван відповів і сказав: „Люди́на нічого приймати не може, як їй з неба не дасться.
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing unless it be given him out of heaven.
Ви самі мені свідчите, що я говорив: я — не Христос, але по́сланий я перед Ним.
Ye yourselves bear me witness that I said, I am not the Christ, but, that I am sent before him.
Хто має заручену, той молодий. А дружко́ молодого, що стоїть і його слухає, дуже тішиться з голосу молодого. Така радість моя оце здійснилась!
He that has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices in heart because of the voice of the bridegroom: this my joy then is fulfilled.
Хто зве́рху приходить, — Той над усіма́. Хто походить із землі, то той зе́мний, і говорить по-зе́мному. Хто приходить із неба, Той над усіма́,
He who comes from above is above all. He who has his origin in the earth is of the earth, and speaks [as] of the earth. He who comes out of heaven is above all,
і що бачив і чув, те Він свідчить, — та свідо́цтва Його не приймає ніхто.
[and] what he has seen and has heard, this he testifies; and no one receives his testimony.
Хто ж прийняв свідо́цтво Його, той стверди́в тим, що Бог правдивий.
He that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true;
Бо Кого Бог послав, Той Божі слова́ промовляє, — бо Духа дає Бог без міри.
for he whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives not the Spirit by measure.
Отець любить Сина, і дав усе в Його руку.
The Father loves the Son, and has given all things [to be] in his hand.
