Jesus is Our Advocate
My children, these things I write to you in order that ye may not sin; and if any one sin, we have a patron with the Father, Jesus Christ [the] righteous;

Він ублага́ння за наші гріхи, і не тільки за наші, але й за гріхи всього світу.
and *he* is the propitiation for our sins; but not for ours alone, but also for the whole world.
А що ми пізнали Його, пізнає́мо це з того, коли заповіді Його доде́ржуємо.
And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
Хто говорить: „Пізнав я Його“, але не доде́ржує Його заповідів, той неправдомовець, і немає в нім правди!
He that says, I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
А хто доде́ржує Його слово, у тому Божа любов справді вдоскона́лилась. Із того ми пізнає́мо, що в Нім пробува́ємо.
but whoever keeps his word, in him verily the love of God is perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him.
А хто каже, що в Нім пробува́є, той повинен пово́дитись так, як пово́дився Він.
He that says he abides in him ought, even as *he* walked, himself also [so] to walk.
Улю́блені, — не пишу́ я для вас нову́ заповідь, але заповідь давню, яку мали від поча́тку: заповідь давня, — то слово, що чули його від поча́тку.
A New Command
Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which ye have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye heard.

Але нову́ заповідь я вам пишу́, що справді вона в Нім та в вас, — що минається те́мрява, і світло правдиве вже світить.
Again, I write a new commandment to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light already shines.
Хто говорить, що він пробува́є у світлі, та нена́видить брата свого, той у те́мряві досі.
He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness until now.
А хто любить брата свого́, той пробува́є у світлі, і в ньому спотика́ння немає.
He that loves his brother abides in light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.
Хто ж нена́видить брата свого, пробуває той у те́мряві й ходить у те́мряві, і не знає, куди він іде, бо те́мрява очі йому осліпила.
But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he goes, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
Пишу́ я вам, ді́тоньки, що гріхи вам прощаються ради Йме́ння Його.
I write to you, children, because [your] sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
Пишу́ вам, батьки, бо ви пізнали Того, Хто від поча́тку. Пишу́ вам, юнаки́, бо перемогли ви лукавого.
I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked [one]. I write to you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
Пишу́, діти, вам, бо ви пізнали Отця. Я писав вам, батьки, бо ви пізнали Того, Хто від поча́тку. Писав я до вас, юнаки́, бо міцні́ ви, і Слово Боже в вас пробуває, і лукавого перемогли ви.
I have written to you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and ye have overcome the wicked [one].
Не любіть світу, ані того, що́ в світі. Коли любить хто світ, у тім немає любови Отцівської,
Do Not Love the World
Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one love the world, the love of the Father is not in him;
Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one love the world, the love of the Father is not in him;
бо все, що в світі: пожадливість тілесна, і пожадливість оча́м, і пиха́ життє́ва, — це не від Отця, а від світу.
because all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Минається і світ, і його пожадли́вість, а хто Божу волю виконує, той повік пробува́є!
And the world is passing, and its lust, but he that does the will of God abides for eternity.
Діти, — остання година! А що чули були́, що анти́христ іде, — а тепер з'явилось багато анти́христів, — з цього ми пізнає́мо, що остання година настала!
Beware of Antichrists
Little children, it is [the] last hour, and, according as ye have heard that antichrist comes, even now there have come many antichrists, whence we know that it is [the] last hour.

Із нас вони вийшли, та до нас не належали. Коли б були належали до нас, то залиши́лися б з нами; але вийшли, щоб відкрилось, що не всі вони наші.
They went out from among us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have surely remained with us, but that they might be made manifest that none are of us.
А ви маєте пома́зання від Святого, і знаєте все.
And *ye* have [the] unction from the holy [one], and ye know all things.
Я не писав вам, немов ви не знаєте правди, але що знаєте її, і що всяка лжа не від правди.
I have not written to you because ye do not know the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Хто неправдомо́вець, як не той, хто відкидає, що Ісус є Христос? Це анти́христ, що відрікається Отця й Сина!
Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? *He* is the antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
Кожен, хто відрікається Сина, не має Отця; хто визнає́ Сина, той має Отця.
Whoever denies the Son has not the Father either; he who confesses the Son has the Father also.
Тож, що́ ви чули з поча́тку, нехай в вас пробуває воно; якщо в вас пробува́тиме те, що́ ви чули з поча́тку, то й ви пробува́тимете в Сині й Отці.
As for *you* let that which ye have heard from the beginning abide in you: if what ye have heard from the beginning abides in you, *ye* also shall abide in the Son and in the Father.
А оце та обі́тниця, яку Він Сам обіцяв нам: вічне життя.
And this is the promise which *he* has promised us, life eternal.
Це я написав вам про тих, хто обманює вас.
These things have I written to you concerning those who lead you astray:
А пома́зання, яке прийняли́ ви від Нього, — воно в вас залиша́ється, і ви не потребу́єте, щоб вас хто навчав. А що те пома́зання само вас навчає про все, — воно бо правдиве и нехи́бне, — то я́к вас навчило воно, у тім пробувайте.
and *yourselves*, the unction which ye have received from him abides in you, and ye have not need that any one should teach you; but as the same unction teaches you as to all things, and is true and is not a lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in him.
А тепер, діточки, залишайтеся в Нім, щоб, як з'явиться Він, то щоб ми мали відвагу та не були засоро́млені Ним під час Його прихо́ду.
