Now the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, so that the LORD gave them into the hands of the Philistines forty years.

І був один чоловік з Цар'ї, да́нівець з роду, а ім'я́ йому — Мано́ах. А жінка його була неплідна, і не родила.
There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren and had borne no children.
І явився Ангол Господній до тієї жінки, та й промовив до неї: „Ось ти неплі́дна, і не роджала, але ти зачнеш і породиш сина.
Then the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and give birth to a son.
А тепер стережись, і не пий вина та п'янко́го напо́ю, і не їж нічого нечистого,
“Now therefore, be careful not to drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing.
бо ось ти зачнеш, і сина породиш, і бри́тва не торкнеться його голови, бо дитя те буде Божим назоре́єм від утро́би, — і він зачне спаса́ти Ізраїля з руки филисти́млян“.
“For behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son, and no razor shall come upon his head, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”
І прийшла та жінка, та й сказала до чоловіка свого, говорячи: „Божий чоловік прихо́див до мене, а вигляд його — як вигляд Божого Ангола, дуже грізни́й. І я не питала його, звідки він, а йме́ння свого він мені не сказав.
Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A man of God came to me and his appearance was like the appearance of the angel of God, very awesome. And I did not ask him where he came from, nor did he tell me his name.
І сказав він мені: Ось ти зачне́ш, і поро́диш сина, а тепер не пий вина та п'янко́го напо́ю, і не їж жодної нечистости, бо дитя те буде Божим назоре́єм від утро́би аж до дня смерти своєї“.
“But he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son, and now you shall not drink wine or strong drink nor eat any unclean thing, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”
І благав Мано́ах Господа, та й сказав: „О Господи, — Божий чоловік, що його́ посилав Ти, нехай при́йде ще до нас, і нехай нас навчи́ть, що́ ми зробимо для дитини, що народиться“.
Then Manoah entreated the LORD and said, “O Lord, please let the man of God whom You have sent come to us again that he may teach us what to do for the boy who is to be born.”
І вислухав Бог цей Маноахів голос, і прийшов Божий Ангол ще до тієї жінки. А вона сиділа на полі, і Мано́аха, чоловіка її, не було́ з нею.
God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she was sitting in the field, but Manoah her husband was not with her.
І поспішила та жінка, і побігла та й оповіла́ чоловікові своєму, і сказала до нього: „Ось з'явився мені той чоловік, що прихо́див був того дня до ме́не“.
So the woman ran quickly and told her husband, “Behold, the man who came the other day has appeared to me.”
І встав, і пішов Маноах за своєю жінкою, і прийшов до того чоловіка, та й сказав йому: „Чи ти той чоловік, що говорив до цієї жінки?“ А той сказав: „Я“.
Then Manoah arose and followed his wife, and when he came to the man he said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to the woman?” And he said, “I am.”
І сказав Маноах: „Тепер нехай спо́вниться слово твоє. Та як нам вихо́вувати ту дитину, і що чинити з нею?
Manoah said, “Now when your words come to pass, what shall be the boy’s mode of life and his vocation?”
І сказав Ангол Господній до Маноаха: „Усього, що́ сказав я жінці, нехай вона стереже́ться.
So the angel of the LORD said to Manoah, “Let the woman pay attention to all that I said.
Усього, що́ виходить із виноградного куща́, не буде вона їсти, а вина та напо́ю п'янко́го нехай не п'є, і нічого нечистого нехай не їсть. Нехай додержує всього, що я наказав“.
“She should not eat anything that comes from the vine nor drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; let her observe all that I commanded.”
І сказав Маноах до Ангола Господнього: „Нехай ми заде́ржимо тебе, і пригото́вимо для тебе козля́“.
Then Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, “Please let us detain you so that we may prepare a young goat for you.”
І сказав Ангол Господній до Маноаха: „Якщо ти заде́ржиш мене, я не бу́ду їсти твого хліба. А якщо приготу́єш цілопа́лення — для Господа принесеш його“. Бо Маноах не знав, що це Ангол Господній.
The angel of the LORD said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I will not eat your food, but if you prepare a burnt offering, then offer it to the LORD.” For Manoah did not know that he was the angel of the LORD.
І сказав Маноах до Господнього Ангола: „Яке ім'я́ твоє? Коли спо́вниться твоє слово, то ми вшануємо тебе“.
Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, “What is your name, so that when your words come to pass, we may honor you?”
І сказав йому Ангол Господній: „Чому ти питаєшся про моє ім'я́? Воно дивне“.
But the angel of the LORD said to him, “Why do you ask my name, seeing it is wonderful?”
І взяв Маноах козля́ та жертву хлі́бну, і на скелі приніс Господе́ві. І Він учинив чудо, а Маноах та його жінка бачили те.
So Manoah took the young goat with the grain offering and offered it on the rock to the LORD, and He performed wonders while Manoah and his wife looked on.
І сталося, коли по́лум'я підіймалося з-над жертівника до неба, то Ангол Господній вознісся в по́лум'ї жертівника. А Маноах та жінка його бачили це, та й попа́дали обличчям своїм на землю.
For it came about when the flame went up from the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell on their faces to the ground.
І Ангол Господній більш уже не появлявся до Маноаха та до жінки його. Тоді Маноах пізнав, що це Ангол Господній.
Now the angel of the LORD did not appear to Manoah or his wife again. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of the LORD.
І сказав Маноах до своєї жінки: „Ми справді помремо́, бо ми бачили Бога“.
So Manoah said to his wife, “We will surely die, for we have seen God.”
І сказала йому жінка його: „Коли б Господь хотів був повбивати нас, не взяв би з нашої руки цілопа́лення та хлібної жертви, і не дав би нам побачити всього цьо́го, і не об'явив би нам цього ча́су речі, як це“.
But his wife said to him, “If the LORD had desired to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from our hands, nor would He have shown us all these things, nor would He have let us hear things like this at this time.”
І породила та жінка сина, і назвала ім'я́ йому: Самсо́н. І виро́став той хло́пець, і Господь благословля́в його́.
Then the woman gave birth to a son and named him Samson; and the child grew up and the LORD blessed him.
