    І пішовши звідти, Ісус прийшов до країни юдейської та землі по той бік Йордану. І знову натовп зібрався навколо Нього, тож навчав Він людей за звичаєм Своїм.

    Marriage and Divorce

    Then He arose from there and came to the region of Judea by the other side of the Jordan. And multitudes gathered to Him again, and as He was accustomed, He taught them again.

    Підійшли до Ісуса кілька фарисеїв і, випробовуючи, запитали Його: «Чи дозволено чоловікові розлучитися з дружиною своєю?»

    The Pharisees came and asked Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” testing Him.

    Ісус відповів: «Що вам Мойсей заповідав?»

    And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?”
  • 4
    Вони кажуть: «Мойсей заповів, що чоловік може розлучитися з жінкою, давши їй розвідного листа[30]».

    They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her.”

    Ісус на те відповів: «Мойсей дозволив вам розлучатися з жінкою через упертість сердець ваших.

    And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this [a]precept.

    Від самого початку створення світу, Господь „створив людей чоловіком і жінкою”.

    But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’

    Ось чому „чоловік покине своїх батька та матір і з’єднається з дружиною своєю.

    ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,

    І стануть вони єдиною людиною”, і більше не буде їх двоє, а буде одна плоть.

    and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.

    Отож ніхто не роз’єднає тих, кого Бог з’єднав разом».

    Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

    Коли вони були в домі, учні знову запитали Його про це.

    In the house His disciples also asked Him again about the same matter.

    І Він сказав їм: «Хто розлучається зі своєю дружиною й одружується з іншою жінкою, той грішить і чинить перелюб.

    So He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.
  • 12
    І якщо жінка розлучається з чоловіком своїм і бере шлюб з іншим, також й сама чинить перелюб».

    And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

    Люди привели до Ісуса малих дітей, аби Він, поклавши на них руки, благословив їх. Але учні Його почали дорікати їм.

    Jesus Blesses Little Children

    Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.

    Коли Ісус побачив це, то розгнівався й сказав: «Пустіть дітей до Мене і не зупиняйте їх, бо Царство Боже належить таким, як вони.

    But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

    Істинно кажу вам: хто не приймає Царство Боже так же щиро, як мала дитина, той ніколи в нього не ввійде».
  • 15
    Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
  • 16
    Ісус пригорнув дітей, поклав на них руки і благословив їх.
  • 16
    And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.
  • 17
    Коли Ісус вирушив у путь, до Нього підбіг один чоловік і, упавши на коліна, запитав: «Вчителю Добрий, що мушу я робити, аби успадкувати вічне життя?»

    Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler

    Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

    На те Ісус йому сказав: «Чому ти називаєш Мене Добрим? Ніхто не є добрим, крім Самого Бога.

    So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.
  • 19
    Тобі відомі заповіді: „Не вбивай, не чини перелюбу, не кради, не бреши, не чини кривди, шануй батька й матір своїх”».

    You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ”

    Той відповів: «З юності я дотримуюся цих заповідей».

    And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.”

    Ісус подивився на чоловікаі, сповнений любові до нього, сказав: «Одного тобі бракує: піди й продай усе, що маєш, а що вторгуєш, роздай бідним. І тоді матимеш ти багатство на Небі. Тоді приходь і слідуй за Мною».

    Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”

    Той чоловік глибоко засмутився, бо був він дуже багатий.
  • 22
    But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

    Ісус подивився на Своїх учнів й мовив до них: «Тяжко буде багатому ввійти в Царство Боже!»

    With God All Things Are Possible

    Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!”

    Учні були здивовані Його словами, та Ісус повторив: «Діти мої, як важко ввійти в Царство Боже!
  • 24
    And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is [b]for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!

    Легше верблюдові пройти крізь голчане вушко, ніж багатому ввійти в Царство Боже».
  • 25
    It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

    Учні були ще дужче вражені і казали один одному: «То хто ж тоді може бути спасенний?»

    And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?”

    Подивившись на них, Ісус відповів: «Це неможливо для людей, але не для Бога, бо для Нього немає нічого неможливого».

    But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

    Тоді Петро промовив до Ісуса: «Поглянь! Ми залишили все й пішли за Тобою!»

    Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.”
  • 29-30
    Тоді Ісус сказав: «Істинно кажу вам: кожний, хто залишив хату свою, братів, сестер, матір, батька, дітей або господарство своє заради імені Мого та Євангелія, ще в цьому житті одержить у сто разів більше помешкань, братів, сестер, матерів, дітей і ланів, так само, як і переслідувань, а також — нагороду вічного життя в прийдешні часи.

    So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother [c]or wife or children or [d]lands, for My sake and the gospel’s,
  • 30
    who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time — houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions — and in the age to come, eternal life.

    Багато з тих, хто сьогодні перші, стануть останніми, а останні — першими».
  • 31
    But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

    Сталося це по дорозі до Єрусалиму. Ісус ішов попереду. Його учні були збентежені, а ті, котрі йшли позаду, відчували страх. Знову Ісус відкликав дванадцятьох і почав розповідати їм про те, що має статися з Ним в Єрусалимі:

    Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection

    Now they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going before them; and they were amazed. And as they followed they were afraid. Then He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them the things that would happen to Him:

    «Ми йдемо до Єрусалиму. Там Сина Людського буде віддано до рук головних священиків та книжників. Вони засудять Його на смерть і віддадуть поганам. Ті збиткуватимуться з Нього, плюватимуть на Нього й битимуть Його батогами, а потім вб’ють. Але через три дні Він воскресне з мертвих».

    “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles;

    and they will mock Him, and [e]scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”

    Яків та Іоан, сини Зеведеєві, підійшли до Ісуса й кажуть: «Учителю, ми хочемо, щоб Ти зробив для нас те, про що ми попросим Тебе».

    Greatness Is Serving

    Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.”

    Ісус запитав їх: «Що ж ви бажаєте, щоб Я зробив для вас?»

    And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
  • 37
    А вони кажуть: «Дозволь нам розділити з Тобою велику Славу Твою: дозволь одному з нас сидіти по праву руку від Тебе, а другому — по ліву».

    They said to Him, “Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.”
  • 38
    Ісус відповів: «Ви не знаєте, про що просите! Чи зможете ви випити чашу [31] страждань, яку Я випити маю, і прийняти таке хрещення,[32] яке Я приймаю?»

    But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?”
  • 39-40
    Вони відповіли: «Так, ми зможемо». Тоді Ісус сказав їм: «Істинно кажу вам, ви вип’єте з чаші, яку Я питиму, і приймете таке хрещення, яке Я приймаю, але кому сидіти від Мене праворуч чи ліворуч — те не Мені вирішувати. Господь приготував ці місця для обранців Своїх».

    They said to Him, “We are able.”
    So Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized;

    but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared.”

    Почувши це, інші десять учнів розгнівалися на Якова та Іоана.

    And when the ten heard it, they began to be greatly displeased with James and John.
  • 42
    Тоді Ісус покликав їх до Себе і сказав: «Ви знаєте, що погани обирають правителів, які люблять показувати владу свою над людьми, а їхні намісники гноблять народ.

    But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

    Але ж не так має бути між вами:
    хто хоче бути великим, хай стане слугою для вас; хто хоче стати першим серед вас, хай буде рабом для всіх.

    Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.

    And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.
  • 45
    Бо навіть Син Людський прийшов не для того, щоб Йому служили, а щоб Самому служити іншим й віддати життя Своє як викуп за багатьох».
  • 45
    For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

    Опісля прийшли вони до Єрихона, а коли Ісус виходив з того міста в супроводі Своїх учнів та великого натовпу, при дорозі сидів сліпий жебрак Вартимей, син Тимеїв.

    Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus

    Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging.

    Почувши, що Ісус із Назарета проходить повз, він загукав: «Ісусе, Сину Давидів, змилуйся наді мною!»

    And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

    Багато людей почали докоряти йому, щоб він замовк. Але він гукав ще голосніше: «Сину Давидів, змилуйся наді мною!»

    Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

    Тоді Ісус зупинився й сказав: «Підведіть його до Мене!» Люди покликали сліпого, кажучи: «Радій! Підведися, бо Ісус кличе тебе».

    So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called.
    Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”

    Сліпий, скинувши верхню одежину, швидко підвівся й підійшов до Ісуса.
  • 50
    And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
  • 51
    Христос запитав його: «Що ти хочеш, щоб Я зробив для тебе?» Жебрак сказав: «Учителю, я знову хочу бачити».

    So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
    The blind man said to Him, [f]“Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”
  • 52
    Тоді Він промовив: «Іди! Твоя віра врятувала [33] тебе». І тієї ж миті жебрак прозрів і подався вслід за Ісусом по дорозі.

    Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has [g]made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
