І сталося, що після цих подій сповістили Йосифові: Твій батько хворіє. Тож взявши двох своїх синів, Манасію та Єфрема, він прийшов до Якова.
Jacob Blesses Ephraim and Manasseh
And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick. And he took with him his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim.

І сповістили Якову, говорячи: Ось твій син Йосиф прийшов до тебе. Тож Ізраїль, зібравши сили, сів на ліжку.
And one told Jacob and said, Behold, thy son Joseph is coming to thee. And Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.
І сказав Яків Йосифові: Мій Бог з’явився мені в Лузі, у Ханаанській землі, поблагословив мене
And Jacob said to Joseph, The Almighty God appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
і сказав мені: Ось Я побільшу тебе та розмножу тебе, і зроблю тебе громадою народів, і цю землю у вічне володіння дам тобі та твоїм нащадкам після тебе.
and he said to me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a company of peoples; and will give this land to thy seed after thee [for] an everlasting possession.
Тому тепер двоє твоїх синів, які народилися в тебе в Єгипті, — ще до того, як я прибув до тебе в Єгипет, — є моїми: Єфрем і Манасія будуть моїми, як Рувим та Симеон.
And now thy two sons, who were born to thee in the land of Egypt before I came to thee into Egypt, shall be mine: Ephraim and Manasseh shall be mine, as Reuben and Simeon.
Діти ж, яких породиш після цього, будуть твоїми; вони будуть названі в переліку своїх братів — за їхньою спадкоємністю.
And thy family which thou hast begotten after them shall be thine: they shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
Тоді, коли я йшов із сирійської Месопотамії, померла твоя мати Рахиль у Ханаанській землі, як я наближався до іподрому Хаврата в тій землі, і поховав я її в дорозі біля іподрому на підході до Ефрата (це Вифлеєм).
And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was yet a certain distance to come to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath, that is, Bethlehem.
І, побачивши синів Йосифа, Ізраїль запитав: Хто вони тобі?
And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?
А Йосиф відповів своєму батькові: Це — мої сини, яких дав мені тут Бог. Тож Яків сказав: Підведи їх до мене, щоб я їх поблагословив.
And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God has given me here. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, to me, that I may bless them.
Очі ж його затьмарилися від старості, і він не міг бачити. І той підвів їх до нього, і він поцілував їх і обняв їх.
But the eyes of Israel were heavy from age: he could not see. And he brought them nearer to him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
І сказав Ізраїль Йосифові: Ось, я не був позбавлений твого обличчя; та ось — Бог показав мені й твоїх нащадків.
And Israel said to Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face; and behold, God has let me see also thy seed.
І відвів їх Йосиф від його колін, і вони вклонилися йому обличчям до землі.
And Joseph brought them out from his knees, and bowed down with his face to the earth.
А Йосиф узяв своїх двох синів: Єфрема — правою рукою, — з лівої сторони Ізраїля, а Манасію — лівою рукою, — з правої сторони Ізраїля, і підвів їх до нього.
And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought [them] near to him.
Але Ізраїль, простягнувши праву руку, поклав її на голову Єфрема, — цей же був молодший, а лівицю — на голову Манасії — схрестивши руки.
But Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid [it] on Ephraim's head -- now he was the younger -- and his left hand on Manasseh's head; guiding his hands intelligently, for Manasseh was the firstborn.
І він поблагословив їх, і сказав: Бог, перед Яким вгодили мої батьки, — Авраам та Ісаак, — Бог, Який мене годує з дитинства аж до цього дня,
And he blessed Joseph, and said, The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God that shepherded me all my life long to this day,
Ангел, який мене спасає від усякого зла, нехай благословить цих дітей, і нехай прикличеться в них моє ім’я та ім’я моїх батьків Авраама й Ісаака, і хай розмножаться в дуже велике число на землі.
the Angel that redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named upon them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the land!
Побачив Йосиф, що батько поклав свою правицю на голову Єфрема, і йому здалося тяжким, і взяв Йосиф руку свого батька, щоби перекласти її з голови Єфрема на голову Манасії,
When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it was evil in his eyes; and he took hold of his father's hand to remove it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's head.
і Йосиф сказав своєму батькові: Не так, батьку, адже цей первенець; поклади свою правицю на його голову.
And Joseph said to his father, Not so, my father, for this is the firstborn: put thy right hand on his head.
Та не схотів той, але сказав: Знаю, сину, знаю; і цей стане народом, і цей буде великим, але його молодший брат буде більшим за нього, і його потомство стане повнотою народностей.
But his father refused and said, I know, my son, I know: he also will become a people, and he also will be great; but truly his younger brother will be greater than he; and his seed will become the fulness of nations.
І поблагословив їх того дня, промовивши: Через вас буде благословенний Ізраїль, коли говоритимуть: Нехай зробить тебе Бог, як Єфрема і як Манасію. Тож він поставив Єфрема перед Манасією.
And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee will Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and Manasseh! And he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
А Йосифові Ізраїль сказав: Ось, я помираю, та Бог буде з вами, і Бог поверне вас із цієї землі в землю ваших батьків.
And Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I die; and God will be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.
