    Praise for God’s Deliverance

    Then David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.

    і сказав: О Господи, скеля моя, моя твердиня і мій спаситель!

    And he said:
    “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
  • 3
    Мій Бог буде мені вартовим, впевнено буду в Ньому, мій оборонець і ріг мого спасіння, мій помічник та охорона мого спасіння, — Ти мене спасеш від неправедного!

    The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
    My shield and the horn[a] of my salvation,
    My stronghold and my refuge;
    My Savior, You save me from violence.

    Співом прикличу Господа і врятуюся від моїх ворогів.

    I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
    So shall I be saved from my enemies.

    Бо охопили мене смертельні болі, мене засмутили потоки безбожності.

    “When the waves of death surrounded me,
    The floods of ungodliness [b]made me afraid.

    Мене оточили смертельні болі, мене випередили тягарі смерті.

    The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;
    The snares of death confronted me.

    Коли буду пригніченим, закличу до Господа і закличу до мого Бога. І Він вислухає мій голос зі Свого храму, і мій крик — у Його вухах.

    In my distress I called upon the Lord,
    And cried out to my God;
    He heard my voice from His temple,
    And my cry entered His ears.

    Земля жахнулася і затряслася, основи неба жахнулися і розірвалися, бо Господь розгнівався на них.

    “Then the earth shook and trembled;
    The foundations of [c]heaven quaked and were shaken,
    Because He was angry.

    Піднявся дим у Його гніві, і вогонь з Його уст пожирає, вугілля розгорілося від Нього.

    Smoke went up from His nostrils,
    And devouring fire from His mouth;
    Coals were kindled by it.

    Він схилив небо і зійшов, і темрява під Його ногами.
  • 10
    He bowed the heavens also, and came down
    With darkness under His feet.
  • 11
    Він сів на херувимах — і полетів, і з’явився на крилах вітру.
  • 11
    He rode upon a cherub, and flew;
    And He [d]was seen upon the wings of the wind.

    І поклав темряву як Свій сховок довкола Себе, Його намет — темрява вод, згустив у хмарах повітря.

    He made darkness canopies around Him,
    Dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
  • 13
    Від світіння перед Ним загорілося вогненне вугілля.

    From the brightness before Him
    Coals of fire were kindled.
  • 14
    Загримів Господь з неба, і Свій голос Всевишній подав,
  • 14
    “The Lord thundered from heaven,
    And the Most High uttered His voice.
  • 15
    послав стріли і розсіяв їх, послав блискавку і перелякав їх.
  • 15
    He sent out arrows and scattered them;
    Lightning bolts, and He vanquished them.
  • 16
    І відкрилися джерела моря, і відкрилися основи Всесвіту від Господньої погрози, від подуву Духа Його гніву.

    Then the channels of the sea were seen,
    The foundations of the world were uncovered,
    At the rebuke of the Lord,
    At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.

    Він послав з гори і взяв мене, витягнув мене з великих вод.

    “He sent from above, He took me,
    He drew me out of many waters.
  • 18
    Спас мене від моїх сильних ворогів, від тих, хто ненавидить мене, бо вони стали сильнішими за мене.

    He delivered me from my strong enemy,
    From those who hated me;
    For they were too strong for me.

    Випередили мене в дні мого пригноблення, — та Господь був моїм підкріпленням,

    They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
    But the Lord was my support.

    вивів мене на широчінь і спас мене, бо вподобав мене.
  • 20
    He also brought me out into a broad place;
    He delivered me because He delighted in me.
  • 21
    І віддав мені Господь за моєю справедливістю, віддав мені за чистотою моїх рук,

    “The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;
    According to the cleanness of my hands
    He has recompensed me.
  • 22
    адже я беріг Господні дороги та не відступив безбожно від мого Бога,
  • 22
    For I have kept the ways of the Lord,
    And have not wickedly departed from my God.
  • 23
    тому що всі Його суди і заповіді Його — переді мною, я не відступив від них.
  • 23
    For all His judgments were before me;
    And as for His statutes, I did not depart from them.
  • 24
    І буду невинним перед Ним, обережу себе від мого беззаконня.
  • 24
    I was also blameless before Him,
    And I kept myself from my iniquity.
  • 25
    І Господь мені віддасть за моєю справедливістю і за чистотою моїх рук перед Його очима.
  • 25
    Therefore the Lord has [e]recompensed me according to my righteousness,
    According to [f]my cleanness in His eyes.

    З праведним будеш праведний і з досконалим мужем будеш досконалий,
  • 26
    “With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful;
    With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless;
  • 27
    з вибраним будеш вибраний і з розбещеним будеш розбещений.
  • 27
    With the pure You will show Yourself pure;
    And with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd.
  • 28
    І спасеш народ бідних, а очі гордих упокориш.
  • 28
    You will save the humble[g] people;
    But Your eyes are on the haughty, that You may bring them down.
  • 29
    Адже Ти — моє світило, Господи, і Господь просвітить мені мою темряву.
  • 29
    “For You are my lamp, O Lord;
    The Lord shall enlighten my darkness.
  • 30
    Адже в Тобі сам побіжу легкоозброєний, та в Бозі моєму перескочу мур.
  • 30
    For by You I can run against a troop;
    By my God I can leap over a wall.
  • 31
    Сильна, непорочна Його дорога, Господнє слово сильне, розпечене, Він є охоронцем для всіх, хто на Нього надіється.

    As for God, His way is perfect;
    The word of the Lord is proven;
    He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

    Хто сильний, як Господь, і хто творець, як Бог наш?

    “For who is God, except the Lord?
    And who is a rock, except our God?

    Сильний тримає мене силою, і простелив у невинності мою дорогу.

    [h]God is my strength and power,
    And He makes [i]my way perfect.

    Він робить ноги мої, як у оленя, і ставить мене на висотах.

    He makes [j]my feet like the feet of deer,
    And sets me on my high places.

    Навчає мої руки на війну і знищив мідний лук моєю рукою.

    He teaches my hands [k]to make war,
    So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

    Ти дав мені оборону Свого спасіння, і Його послух поширив мене

    “You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
    Your gentleness has made me great.

    широко для мого проходу піді мною, і не похитнулися мої ноги.

    You enlarged my path under me;
    So my feet did not slip.

    Прожену моїх ворогів, дожену їх і не повернуся, доки не вигублю їх.

    “I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them;
    Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed.

    І зітру їх, не встануть і впадуть під моїми ногами.

    And I have destroyed them and wounded them,
    So that they could not rise;
    They have fallen under my feet.

    І підсилиш мене силою на війну, зігнеш під мене тих, які повстають проти мене.

    For You have armed me with strength for the battle;
    You have [l]subdued under me those who rose against me.

    І моїх ворогів прогнав Ти від мене, — тих, які мене ненавидять, — і Ти їх убив.

    You have also [m]given me the necks of my enemies,
    So that I destroyed those who hated me.

    Закричать до Господа, та немає помічника, — Ти не вислухав їх.

    They looked, but there was none to save;
    Even to the Lord, but He did not answer them.

    І стер їх, наче порох землі, вирівняв їх, як землю доріг.
  • 43
    Then I beat them as fine as the dust of the earth;
    I trod them like dirt in the streets,
    And I [n]spread them out.

    Він визволить мене від ворожнечі народів, стерегтимеш мене на голову народів. Народ, якого я не знав, служив мені,

    “You have also delivered me from the [o]strivings of my people;
    You have kept me as the head of the nations.
    A people I have not known shall serve me.
  • 45
    чужі сини обманули мене, на слух вуха послухали мене.
  • 45
    The foreigners submit to me;
    As soon as they hear, they obey me.
  • 46
    Чужі сини будуть відкинені й будуть викинені зі сховків своїх.
  • 46
    The foreigners fade away,
    And [p]come frightened from their hideouts.
  • 47
    Нехай живе Господь, мій благословенний вартовий, і піднесеться Бог мій, вартовий мого спасіння.

    “The Lord lives!
    Blessed be my Rock!
    Let God be exalted,
    The Rock of my salvation!

    Сильний Господь, Який дає мені помсту, Який картає народи піді мною

    It is God who avenges me,
    And subdues the peoples under me;
  • 49
    і виводить мене від моїх ворогів! Ти піднесеш мене над тими, які підносяться проти мене! Він визволить мене від неправедного мужа.

    He delivers me from my enemies.
    You also lift me up above those who rise against me;
    You have delivered me from the violent man.

    Через це прославлятиму Тебе, Господи, між народами і співатиму Твоєму Імені.

    Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles,
    And sing praises to Your name.

    Він звеличує спасіння Свого царя і чинить мир своєму помазаникові — Давидові, та його нащадкам навіки.

    “He is the tower of salvation to His king,
    And shows mercy to His anointed,
    To David and his descendants forevermore.”
