{An instruction. Of Asaph.} Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

А трупи рабів Твоїх покинули на поживу небесним птахам, — тіла Твоїх праведних — земним звірам.
I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter riddles from of old,
Пролили, наче воду, їхню кров навколо Єрусалима — і не було, кому поховати.
Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us:
Ми стали посміховиськом для наших сусідів, предметом глуму та наруги для тих, хто навколо нас.
We will not hide [them] from their sons, shewing forth to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, and his strength, and his marvellous works which he hath done.
Доки, Господи, залишатимешся в гніві? Невже навіки? Доки палатиме, наче вогонь, Твоя ревність?
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
Вилий Свій гнів на народи, які Тебе не знають, і на царів, які не прикликали Твого Імені!
That the generation to come might know [them], the children that should be born; that they might rise up and tell [them] to their children,
Адже вони поглинули Якова і спустошили його місцевість.
And that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but observe his commandments;
Не згадай нашого давнього беззаконня. Нехай якнайшвидше Твоє милосердя піде попереду нас, бо ми стали надто нужденні.
And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that prepared not their heart, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
Поможи нам, Боже, Спасителю наш! Задля слави Твого Імені, Господи, визволи нас, — очисти наші гріхи задля Твого Імені.
The sons of Ephraim, armed bowmen, turned back in the day of battle.
Щоб народи часом не сказали: Де їхній Бог? Хай на наших очах народам стане відомо про відплату за пролиту кров Твоїх рабів.
They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
Нехай дійде до Тебе стогін закованих! Згідно з могутністю Своєї сили захисти синів тих, які приречені на смерть.
And forgot his doings, and his marvellous works which he had shewn them.
Віддай нашим сусідам усемеро: на їхнє лоно — їхню ж наругу, якою вони Тебе зневажали, Господи.
In the sight of their fathers had he done wonders, in the land of Egypt, the field of Zoan.
