The Fall of Tyre
The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish! for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, none entering in. From the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.

До кого стали подібними ті, хто живе на острові, купці Фінікії, які перепливають море
Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle! The merchants of Sidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished thee.
великою водою, нащадки купців? Як жнива зібрані купці народів.
And on great waters, the seed of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue; and she was the market of the nations.
Засоромся, Сідоне, — сказало море. А твердиня моря сказала: Я не терпіла болів, не народжувала, не вигодувала молодих і не виховала до дозрілого віку дівчат.
Be thou ashamed, Sidon, for the sea hath spoken, the strength of the sea, saying, I have not travailed nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men [nor] brought up virgins.
Коли ж почується в Єгипті, їх схопить біль за Тир.
when the report came into Egypt, they were sorely pained at the news of Tyre.
Відійдіть, ви, до Кархидону, кричіть, ви, хто живе на цьому острові!
Pass over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the coast!
Чи не була вона [1] вашою гордістю, вона, яка від початку, раніше, ніж вона була віддана?
Is this your joyous [city], whose antiquity is of ancient days? Her feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn.
Хто це визначив про Тир? Хіба він не є меншим, чи не має сили? Його купці славні, володарі землі.
Who hath purposed this against Tyre, the distributor of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose dealers were the honourable of the earth?
Господь Саваот визначив усунути всю гордість славних і без пошани вчинити всякого славного на землі.
Jehovah of hosts hath purposed it, to profane the pride of all glory, to bring to nought all the honourable of the earth.
Обробляй твою землю, бо й кораблі більше не йдуть з Кархидону.
Overflow thy land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish: there is no more restraint.
А твоя рука, яка розгнівила царів, більше не має сили проти моря. Господь Саваот наказав про Ханаана, щоб знищити його твердиню.
He hath stretched out his hand over the sea, he shaketh the kingdoms. Jehovah hath given a commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strongholds thereof,
І скажуть: Вже більше ви не будете зневажати і чинити неправду дочці Сідону. І якщо відійдеш до китійців, то і там не буде тобі спочинку.
and hath said, Thou shalt no more exult, [thou] oppressed virgin, daughter of Sidon: get thee up, pass over to Chittim; even there shalt thou have no rest.
Чи в землю халдеїв, — і вона спустошена ассирійцями, бо її мур повалився.
Behold the land of the Chaldeans: this people did not exist; the Assyrian founded it for the dwellers in the desert: they set up their towers, they destroyed the palaces thereof; he brought it to ruin.
Голосіть, кораблі Кархидону, бо знищили вашу твердиню.
Howl, ships of Tarshish! for your fortress is laid waste.
І станеться, що в той день залишений буде Тир на сімдесят років, як час царя, як час людини. І станеться, що після сімдесяти років Тир буде як пісня розпусниці:
And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it shall be for Tyre as the harlot's song.
Візьми гусла і мандруй, місто, забута розпуснице! Гарно заграй, багато співай, щоб залишилася пам’ять про тебе!
Take a harp, go about the city, thou forgotten harlot! Make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.
І станеться, що після п’ятдесяти років Бог зробить відвідини Тиру, і він знову повернеться назад до давнього, і буде торговим центром для всіх царств світу.
And it shall come to pass at the end of seventy years, that Jehovah will visit Tyre; and she will return to her hire, and will commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the earth upon the face of the ground.
І його торгівля і винагорода буде свята Господу. Не для них буде зібране, але для тих, які живуть перед Господом, уся його торгівля, щоб їсти і пити, і насититися на злуку і пам’ять перед Господом.
And her merchandise and her hire shall be holy to Jehovah: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before Jehovah, to eat and be sufficed, and for excellent clothing.
