А ось Володар, Господь Саваот, забере з Юдеї і з Єрусалима сильного і сильну, силу хліба і силу води,
Judgment against Judah and Jerusalem
For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

велетня і могутнього, людину військову і суддю, пророка, провісника, старця,
The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
начальника над півсотнею, дивовижного радника, мудрого будівничого і розумного слухача.
The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
І молодих наставлю їм володарями, і кепкуни пануватимуть над ними.
And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
І будуть зіткнення в народі: людина на людину, — кожний на свого ближнього. Дитина образиться на старця, безчесний — на шляхетного.
And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
Адже людина схопить свого брата чи родича свого батька, кажучи: Маєш одяг, стань нашим володарем, і наша їжа нехай буде від тебе!
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
А він у відповідь скаже в той день: Не буду твоїм володарем, бо немає в моєму домі ні хліба, ні одягу. Не буду володарем цього народу!
In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
Адже Єрусалим спустошений, і Юдея впала, і їхні язики — з беззаконням, вони — неслухняні Господу! Тому тепер упокорена їхня слава,
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
і Він виставив перед ними сором їхнього обличчя. А вони сповістили свій гріх як содомляни і зробили явним. Горе їхній душі, тому що радили погану раду проти себе самих,
The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
сказавши: Зв’яжемо праведного, бо він нам невигідний. Тому-то їстимуть плоди своїх діл!
Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Горе беззаконному. Зло трапиться йому за ділами його рук.
Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
Народе мій, ваші наставники обдирають вас, і вимагачі вами володіють! Народе мій, ті, хто блаженними вас називає, зводять вас і роблять перепони на стежках ваших ніг!
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Але тепер Господь приготується до суду і поставить на суд Свій народ.
The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
Він — Господь — прийде на суд зі старійшинами народу і з його володарями: А ви навіщо запалили Мій виноградник? Чому грабунок з бідного у ваших домах?
The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
Чому ви ображаєте Мій народ і засоромлюєте обличчя бідних?
What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Так говорить Господь: За те, що дочки Сіону запишалися і пішли з високо піднятою шиєю, підморгуванням очей і особливою манерою ходи, одночасно тягнучи одяг і водночас танцюючи ногами,
Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
тому Бог упокорить дочок володарів Сіону, і Господь відкриє їхній вигляд,
Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
і в той день Господь відніме славу їхнього одягу, їхні прикраси, плетінки, китички, прикраси на шию,
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
одяг краси слави, браслети, намисто, защіпки для волосся, намисто на праву руку, обручки, сережки,
The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
накидки хатні та прозорі лаконійські,
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
багряні, сині, кармазинові та вісон, виткані золотом і синім полотном, і легкий одяг, що спадає вниз.
The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
І замість приємного запаху буде бруд, і замість пояса обв’яжешся шнурком, замість золотої прикраси на голову матимеш лисину — через твої діла, і замість оздобленого пурпуром хітона ти вдягнешся в мішковину.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
І твій найкращий син, якого ти полюбила, впаде від меча, і ваші сильні упадуть від меча
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
