(8) До Ідумеї так говорить Господь: Немає більше мудрості в Темані, пропала рада в мудрих, відійшла їхня мудрість,

Restoration of Israel and Judah

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

(9) обманене їхнє обличчя. Копайте глибше для помешкання, ви, що живете в Дедані, бо тяжке він зробив. Я навів на нього в час, в який Я його відвідав.

“Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you.

(10) Бо прийшли збирачі винограду, які не залишать тобі останку. Як злодії вночі, вони накладуть свою руку.

For behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord. ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’ ”

(11) Адже Я скинув Ісава, відкрив їхнє скрите, не можуть сховатися. Загинули під рукою свого брата і свого сусіда, і не буде,

Now these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah.

(12) щоб залишався твій сирота, щоби жив, і вдови на Мене поклали надію.

“For thus says the Lord:
‘We have heard a voice of trembling,
Of [a]fear, and not of peace.

(13) Бо так говорить Господь: Для яких не було закону пити чашу, вони випили. І ти таки не залишишся безкарним [1].

Ask now, and see,
Whether a [b]man is ever in [c]labor with child?
So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins
Like a woman in labor,
And all faces turned pale?

(14) Адже Я поклявся Собою, — говорить Господь, — бо непрохідною, зневаженою і проклятою землею будеш посеред нього, і всі її міста будуть пусті навіки.

Alas! For that day is great,
So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it.

8

(15) Я почув чутку від Господа, і послав послів до народів: Зберіться і станьте проти неї, підніміться на війну.

‘For it shall come to pass in that day,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
‘That I will break his yoke from your neck,
And will burst your bonds;
Foreigners shall no more enslave them.

9

(16) Малим поставив Я тебе в народах, зненавидженим у людях.

9

But they shall serve the Lord their God,
And David their king,
Whom I will raise up for them.

10

(17) Твоя забава тебе наздогнала, розгнузданість твого серця розбила щілини каміння, захопила силу високого пагорба. Хоча він підняв своє гніздо вгору, як орел, та звідти тебе Я скину.

‘Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the Lord,
‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel;
For behold, I will save you from afar,
And your seed from the land of their captivity.
Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet,
And no one shall make him afraid.

11

(18) І Ідумея буде непрохідною, кожний, хто нею проходить засичить.

For I am with you,’ says the Lord, ‘to save you;
Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you,
Yet I will not make a complete end of you.
But I will correct you in justice,
And will not let you go altogether unpunished.’

12

(19) Так як знищено Содом, Гоморру та її околиці, — сказав Господь Вседержитель, — там людина не осяде, і там не оселиться людський син.

“For thus says the Lord:
‘Your affliction is incurable,
Your wound is severe.

13

(20) Ось він вийде, як лев з-посеред Йордану на місце Етана, бо швидко помщуся їм за неї. І над нею наставите молодь. Бо хто такий, як Я? І хто Мені протистоятиме? І хто цей пастир, який стане перед Моїм обличчям?

There is no one to plead your cause,
That you may be bound up;
You have no healing medicines.

14

(21) Через це послухайте Господню пораду, яку Він дав проти Ідумеї, і Його задум, який Він замислив проти тих, що живуть у Темані: Хіба не зметені будуть найменші з овець, хіба не стане в неї непрохідним їхнє поселення.

All your lovers have forgotten you;
They do not seek you;
For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy,
With the chastisement of a cruel one,
For the multitude of your iniquities,
Because your sins have increased.

15

(22) Адже земля налякалася від звуку їхнього падіння, і вони зачули крик у морі Суф.

Why do you cry about your affliction?
Your sorrow is incurable.
Because of the multitude of your iniquities,
Because your sins have increased,
I have done these things to you.

16

(23) Ось погляне, як лев, і простягне крила над його твердинями. І в той день серце сильних Ідумеї буде, як серце жінки, що терпить болі народження.

‘Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured;
And all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity;
Those who plunder you shall become plunder,
And all who prey upon you I will make a prey.

17

Синам Аммона. Так сказав Господь: Хіба немає синів в Ізраїлі, чи немає в них спадкоємця? Чому Мелхол захопив Ґалаад, і їхній народ поселився в їхніх містах?

For I will restore health to you
And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord,
‘Because they called you an outcast saying:
“This is Zion;
No one seeks her.” ’

18

Через це ось приходять дні, — говорить Господь, — і в Равваті дам почути воєнний заколот, і стануть непрохідною землею та на знищення, і його жертовники будуть спалені вогнем, й Ізраїль візьме свою владу.

“Thus says the Lord:
‘Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents,
And have mercy on his dwelling places;
The city shall be built upon its own [d]mound,
And the palace shall remain according to its own plan.

19

Закричи, Есевоне, бо знищено Ґай. Закричіть, дочки Раввата, підв’яжіться мішковиною і плачте, бо Мелхол піде у відселення — його священики і його володарі разом.

Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving
And the voice of those who make merry;
I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish;
I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

20

Чому радієш рівнинами, нещасна дочко, що надієшся на свої скарби, чому говориш: Хто на мене найде?

Their children also shall be as before,
And their congregation shall be established before Me;
And I will punish all who oppress them.

21

Ось Я несу на тебе страх з усієї твоєї околиці, — сказав Господь, — і розсієтеся кожний перед своїм обличчям, і не буде того, хто збирає.

21

Their nobles shall be from among them,
And their governor shall come from their midst;
Then I will cause him to draw near,
And he shall approach Me;
For who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me?’ says the Lord.

22

‘You shall be My people,
And I will be your God.’ ”

23

(6) Кидарові, цариці двору, яку побив Навуходоносор, цар Вавилону. Так сказав Господь: Устаньте і підіть на Кидар, і наповніть синів Кедему страхом.

Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord
Goes forth with fury,
A [e]continuing whirlwind;
It will fall violently on the head of the wicked.

24

(7) Їхні шатра і їхні вівці будуть забрані, їхній одяг і весь їхній посуд та їхніх ослів собі заберуть. І накличте на них знищення довкола.

24

The fierce anger of the Lord will not return until He has done it,
And until He has performed the intents of His heart.
In the latter days you will consider it.
