On Human Sacrifice and Immoralities
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

Скажи ізраїльським синам: Якщо хтось з ізраїльських синів чи із захожих, які долучилися до Ізраїля, дасть своїх дітей володареві [1] , нехай буде неодмінно вбитий [2]: нехай народ, що живе на тій землі, поб’є його камінням.
“You shall also say to the sons of Israel:
‘Any man from the sons of Israel or from the aliens sojourning in Israel who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
‘Any man from the sons of Israel or from the aliens sojourning in Israel who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
Я Сам зверну Своє обличчя проти того чоловіка і вигублю його з-посеред його народу, бо він дав своїх дітей володареві, щоб осквернити Мої святощі й опоганити ім’я тих, хто посвячений Мені.
‘I will also set My face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given some of his offspring to Molech, so as to defile My sanctuary and to profane My holy name.
Якщо ж корінні жителі тієї землі таки не зважатимуть [3] своїми очима на того чоловіка, коли він даватиме своїх дітей володареві, та не вб’є його,
‘If the people of the land, however, should ever disregard that man when he gives any of his offspring to Molech, so as not to put him to death,
то Я зверну Своє обличчя проти того чоловіка та його рідні й вигублю з-посеред їхнього народу його та всіх, хто його підтримує, віддаючи їх на розпусту для володаря.
then I Myself will set My face against that man and against his family, and I will cut off from among their people both him and all those who play the harlot after him, by playing the harlot after Molech.
Якщо якась душа піде слідом за черевомовцями чи чаклунами, чинячи розпусту слідом за ними, — Я зверну Своє обличчя проти тієї душі й вигублю її з-посеред її народу.
‘As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.
Будьте святими, бо Я, Господь, ваш Бог, святий.
‘You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the LORD your God.
Дотримуйтесь Моїх заповідей і виконуйте їх. Я — Господь, Який освячує вас.
‘You shall keep My statutes and practice them; I am the LORD who sanctifies you.
Кожний чоловік [4] , який лихословитиме свого батька чи свою матір, нехай буде неодмінно вбитий [5]; він лихословив свого батька чи свою матір, тож буде винний.
‘If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother, his bloodguiltiness is upon him.
Чоловік, який учинить перелюб з дружиною іншого чоловіка, чи який учинить перелюб з дружиною ближнього, — нехай будуть неодмінно вбиті [6]і перелюбник, і перелюбниця.
‘If there is a man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, one who commits adultery with his friend’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Якщо хтось переспить з дружиною свого батька, то він відкрив сором свого батька, — тож нехай обоє будуть неодмінно вбиті [7] , — вони винні.
‘If there is a man who lies with his father’s wife, he has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Якщо хтось переспить зі своєю невісткою, то нехай обоє будуть неодмінно вбиті [8] , бо вони вчинили безбожність, — вони винні.
‘If there is a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Хто переспить із чоловіком, як із жінкою, — обоє вчинили гидоту, тож нехай будуть неодмінно вбиті [9] , — вони винні.
‘If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Хто візьме жінку та її матір, — це беззаконня; нехай спалять на вогні і його, і їх, — і хай у вас не буде беззаконня.
‘If there is a man who marries a woman and her mother, it is immorality; both he and they shall be burned with fire, so that there will be no immorality in your midst.
Хто дасть своє злягання чотириногому, нехай буде неодмінно вбитий [10]; убийте також і чотириногого.
‘If there is a man who lies with an animal, he shall surely be put to death; you shall also kill the animal.
Жінка, яка прийде до будь-якої тварини, щоб спаруватися з нею, — убийте і жінку, і тварину; нехай будуть неодмінно вбиті [11] , — вони винні.
‘If there is a woman who approaches any animal to mate with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Хто візьме свою сестру по своєму батькові чи по своїй матері й побачить її сором, а вона побачить його сором, то це ганьба — нехай будуть вигублені перед синами їхнього роду; він відкрив сором своєї сестри — тож вони візьмуть на себе гріх.
‘If there is a man who takes his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, so that he sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace; and they shall be cut off in the sight of the sons of their people. He has uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he bears his guilt.
Чоловік, який переспить із жінкою, що відсиджується, і відкриє її сором, — відкрив її джерело, а вона відкрила виділення своєї крові, — тож нехай обоє будуть вигублені з-посеред їхнього роду.
‘If there is a man who lies with a menstruous woman and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her flow, and she has exposed the flow of her blood; thus both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
Не відкривай сорому сестри свого батька й сестри своєї матері, бо такий відкрив родичку, — такі понесуть гріх.
‘You shall also not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister or of your father’s sister, for such a one has made naked his blood relative; they will bear their guilt.
Хто переспить зі своєю родичкою, той відкрив сором своєї рідні; такі помруть бездітними.
‘If there is a man who lies with his uncle’s wife he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness; they will bear their sin. They will die childless.
Хто візьме дружину свого брата, — це нечистота, — він відкрив сором свого брата; такі помруть бездітними.
‘If there is a man who takes his brother’s wife, it is abhorrent; he has uncovered his brother’s nakedness. They will be childless.
Дотримуйтесь усіх Моїх заповідей та Моїх присудів і виконуйте їх, — і ви не обриднете землі, до якої Я вводжу вас, щоб ви на ній жили.
‘You are therefore to keep all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them, so that the land to which I am bringing you to live will not spew you out.
Не поводьтеся згідно із законами народів, які Я проганяю з-перед вас, бо вони чинили все це і обридли Мені,
‘Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I will drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them.
тож Я сказав вам: Ви успадкуєте їхню землю, і Я дам її вам у власність, — землю, яка тече молоком та медом. Я — Господь, ваш Бог, який відділив вас від усіх народів.
‘Hence I have said to you, “You are to possess their land, and I Myself will give it to you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples.
Відділіть чистих тварин від нечистих тварин і чистих птахів від нечистих і не чиніть своїх душ огидними через тварин, птахів та всіх плазуючих на землі, що Я вам відділив як нечисте.
‘You are therefore to make a distinction between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean; and you shall not make yourselves detestable by animal or by bird or by anything that creeps on the ground, which I have separated for you as unclean.
Будьте Мені святими, бо Я — святий, Господь, ваш Бог, Який відділив вас від усіх народів, щоб ви були Моїми.
‘Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine.
Чоловік чи жінка, хто б із них не став черевомовцем чи чаклуном, нехай обоє будуть неодмінно вбиті [12]. Побийте їх камінням, — вони винні.
‘Now a man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.’”
