Korah's Rebellion
Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
і виступили проти Мойсея. А з ними ще двісті п’ятдесят чоловіків, ізраїльських синів, старійшин громади, вибраних радників та знатних мужів.
And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
Вони об’єдналися проти Мойсея та Аарона і сказали: Досить з вас! Уся громада — усі святі, і Господь посеред них! То чому ви підноситеся над Господньою громадою?
And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?
і промовив до Коре та до всієї його громади, говорячи: Бог дослідив і пізнав тих, хто є Його, і хто — святі, і наблизив до Себе. Котрих Собі вибрав, тих Він наблизив до Себе!
And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.
Зробіть ось що: самі візьміть собі кадильниці — Коре та вся його громада —
This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
і вранці перед Господом покладіть у них вогню, і підкладіть у них ладану. І буде так, — чоловік, якого вибере Господь, він — святий. Цього хай буде достатньо для вас, сини Левія!
And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
І сказав Мойсей Коре: Вислухайте мене, сини Левія.
And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
Хіба не досить для вас, що Бог Ізраїля відділив вас від ізраїльської громади і наблизив вас до Себе, щоб ви звершували служіння в Господньому наметі й стояли перед громадою, щоб служити їм?
Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
Тож Він наблизив тебе і всіх твоїх братів, синів Левія, з тобою, а ви ще домагаєтеся бути священиками?
And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
Тому ти і вся твоя громада зібралися проти Бога! А хто такий є Аарон, що ви нарікаєте на нього?
For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
І Мойсей послав покликати Датана та Авірона, синів Еліява. Та вони сказали: Ми не прийдемо!
And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:
Хіба не достатньо того, що ти вивів нас із землі, яка тече молоком та медом, щоб умертвити нас у пустелі та щоб панувати над нами, як володар?
Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?
Хіба ж ти привів нас у землю, що тече молоком та медом, чи дав нам у спадок поля і виноградники? Невже ти виколов очі цим людям? Ми не підемо!
Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
Мойсей дуже сильно обурився і звернувся до Господа: Не приймай їхньої жертви! У жодного з них я не взяв того, що зажадав, і не вчинив нікому з них зла!
And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.
А Коре Мойсей сказав: Освяти свою громаду, і завтра будьте готові перед Господом — ти, вони і Аарон!
And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
І кожен нехай візьме свою кадильницю; ви покладете в них ладану і принесете перед Господа — кожен свою кадильницю, — двісті п’ятдесят кадильниць, і ти, і Аарон, — кожен свою кадильницю.
And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.
І кожний з них узяв свою кадильницю, вони поклали в них вогню і насипали на нього ладану. А Мойсей та Аарон стали біля входу в намет свідчення.
And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.
Коре ж напроти них, біля входу в намет свідчення, зібрав усю свою громаду. І Господня слава з’явилася всій громаді.
And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation.
І заговорив Господь до Мойсея та Аарона, кажучи:
And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
Відділіться від цієї громади, Я вигублю їх раз і назавжди.
Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
А вони попадали на свої обличчя, і сказали: Боже, Боже духів і кожного тіла! Якщо згрішила одна людина, чи зіллється на всю громаду Господній гнів?
And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
І промовив Господь до Мойсея, кажучи:
Moses Separates the People
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Звернися до громади, говорячи їй: Відступіть довкола від громади Коре!
Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
Тож Мойсей устав і пішов до Датана та Авірона; разом з ним пішли всі ізраїльські старійшини.
And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
І він промовив до громади, кажучи: Відійдіть від наметів цих непоступливих людей і не доторкайтеся до всього, що їхнє, щоб ви не загинули за всі їхні гріхи!
And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
І вони відступили від намету Коре довкола. А Датан і Авірон вийшли, і стали біля входів у свої намети, — і їхні дружини, і їхні діти, і їхні домашні.
So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
А Мойсей сказав: З того дізнаєтеся, що Господь послав мене робити всі ці справи, що я не від себе самого дію:
And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
якщо вони помруть такою смертю, як у всіх людей, — коли відійдуть так само, як відходять усі люди, — тоді Господь не посилав мене.
If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
Але якщо Господь засвідчить ознакою, і земля, розкривши свої вуста, поглине їх та їхнє майно, і їхні намети, і все, що їм належить, і вони живими зійдуть до аду, тоді пізнаєте, що ці люди викликали гнів Господа.
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.
Коли він перестав говорити всі ці слова, то під ними розступилася земля.
The Earth Swallows Up Korah
And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:

And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
І вони та все те, що їхнє, зійшли живими до аду, і покрила їх земля, і вони пропали з-посеред громади.
They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.
А весь Ізраїль, ті, що довкола, втікали від їхнього голосу, бо говорили: Щоб часом і нас не поглинула земля!
And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.
