Підійшли фарисеї та садукеї [1] і, випробовуючи Його, попросили показати їм ознаку з неба.

The Pharisees and Sadducees Seek a Sign

Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.

А Він у відповідь сказав їм: Як вечір настає, кажете: Буде погода, бо червоне небо.

He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’;

А вранці: Буде негода, бо червоне небо захмарюється. Отже, вигляд неба ви пояснити можете, а ознак часу — не здатні?

and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ [a]Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

Лукавий і перелюбний рід шукає ознаку, але ознаки йому не дасться, хіба що ознака Йони. І залишивши їх, Він відійшов.

A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of [b]the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

А переправившись на другий бік, учні забули взяти хліба.

The Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees

Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

Ісус же сказав їм: Будьте обережні та стережіться фарисейської та садукейської закваски.

Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the [c]leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”

7

Вони ж роздумували над цим і казали, що не взяли хліба.

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.”

8

Знаючи це, Ісус промовив: Чому міркуєте між собою, маловіри, що не маєте хліба?

But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you [d]have brought no bread?

9

Чи й досі не розумієте? Невже не пам’ятаєте п’ятьох хлібів на п’ять тисяч, і скільки кошиків ви зібрали,

Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?

10

ні сімох хлібів на чотири тисячі, та скільки кошиків ви зібрали?

10

Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up?

11

Як ви не розумієте, що не про ті хліби кажу Я вам? Але стережіться закваски фарисейської та садукейської.

How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? — but to beware of the [e]leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

12

Тоді зрозуміли, що Він сказав їм стерегтися не хлібної закваски, а фарисейської та садукейської науки.

Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the [f]doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

13

Прийшовши в околиці Кесарії Филипової, Ісус звернувся до Своїх учнів, запитуючи: За кого люди вважають Сина Людського?

Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”

Вони відповіли: Одні — за Івана Хрестителя, другі — за Іллю, інші — за Єремію або за одного з пророків.

So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15

Каже їм [Ісус]: А ви Мене за кого вважаєте?

15

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

16

У відповідь Симон-Петро промовив: Ти є Христос, Син Бога Живого!

16

Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

17

А Ісус відповів йому і сказав: Блаженний ти, Симоне, сину Йонин, бо не тіло і кров [2] тобі це відкрили, а Мій Отець Небесний.

17

Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

18

І Я тобі кажу, що ти є Петро; і на цій скелі [3] Я збудую Свою Церкву, і брами аду не переможуть її.

18

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not [g]prevail against it.

19

Я дам тобі ключі Царства Небесного: і те, що ти зв’яжеш на землі, буде зв’язане на небесах; і те, що ти розв’яжеш на землі, буде розв’язане на небесах.

19

And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth [h]will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

20

Тоді наказав [Ісус Своїм] учням нікому не казати, що Він — Христос.

20

Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

21

Відтоді Ісус почав виявляти Своїм учням, що Йому потрібно йти в Єрусалим та багато постраждати від старших, первосвящеників і книжників, бути вбитим і третього дня воскреснути.

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection

From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

22

Петро, відкликавши Його вбік, почав перечити Йому, кажучи: Змилуйся над Собою, Господи! Хай з Тобою цього не станеться!

Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, [i]“Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”

23

А Він, обернувшись, сказав Петрові: Відійди від Мене, сатано, ти спокушаєш Мене, бо думаєш не про Боже, а про людське!

23

But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are [j]an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

24

Тоді Ісус сказав Своїм учням: Коли хто хоче йти за Мною, нехай зречеться самого себе, візьме свій хрест і йде за Мною.

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

25

Бо коли хто хоче спасти свою душу, той погубить її, а хто погубить свою душу заради Мене, той знайде її.

25

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

26

Тому що яка користь людині, коли вона весь світ здобуде, а свою душу занапастить? Або що дасть людина взамін за свою душу?

26

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

27

Адже Син Людський має прийти в славі Свого Отця з ангелами Своїми, і тоді Він віддасть кожному згідно з його ділами.

27

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

28

Запевняю вас, що деякі з тих, котрі стоять тут, не зазнають смерті, доки не побачать Сина Людського, що йде у Своєму Царстві.

28

Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”
