As they approached Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples,

and said to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.
А коли хто запитає вас: Навіщо це ви робите? — то скажіть: Господь потребує його, — Він відразу ж відішле його назад.
“If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ you say, ‘The Lord has need of it’; and immediately he will send it back here.”
І вони пішли, знайшли осля, прив’язане до воріт ззовні на узбіччі, і почали відв’язувати його.
They went away and found a colt tied at the door, outside in the street; and they untied it.
Дехто з тих, які там стояли, говорили їм: Що це ви робите? Навіщо відв’язуєте осля?
Some of the bystanders were saying to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?”
А вони відказали їм так, як звелів Ісус; тоді відпустили їх.
They spoke to them just as Jesus had told them, and they gave them permission.
І привели осля до Ісуса, поклали на нього свої плащі, і Він сів на нього.
They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and He sat on it.
Багато хто стелив свій одяг на дорозі, інші ж різали гілки на полях [і стелили по дорозі].
And many spread their coats in the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields.
7 І ті, які йшли попереду, і ті, які йшли слідом за Ним, вигукували: Осанна! Благословенний, Хто йде в Ім’я Господнє!
Those who went in front and those who followed were shouting:
“Hosanna!
BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD;
“Hosanna!
BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD;
Благословенне прийдешнє царство батька нашого Давида! Осанна на висотах!
Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David;
Hosanna in the highest!”

Ісус увійшов у Єрусалим — до храму. Оглянув усе. Та оскільки була вже пізня година, Він пішов з дванадцятьма до Витанії.
Jesus entered Jerusalem and came into the temple; and after looking around at everything, He left for Bethany with the twelve, since it was already late.
Наступного дня, як вони вийшли з Витанії, Він зголоднів.
On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry.
І, побачивши здалека смоківницю, вкриту листям, Він підійшов: може, щось знайде на ній. Але, наблизившись до неї, Він нічого не знайшов, окрім листя, бо не була ще пора на смокви.
Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.
Озвався і промовив Він до смоківниці: Хай з тебе ніколи більше ніхто плоду не їсть! І чули те Його учні.
He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening.
І вони прийшли в Єрусалим. А ввійшовши до храму, Він почав виганяти тих, які продавали й купували в храмі, поперекидав столи міняльників грошей і ослони тих, які продавали голубів,
Jesus Drives Money Changers from the Temple
Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves;
та не дозволяв, щоб носили речі через храм.
and He would not permit anyone to carry merchandise through the temple.
І Він навчав їх, кажучи їм: Хіба не написано, що дім Мій назветься домом молитви для всіх народів? А ви його зробили печерою розбійників!
And He began to teach and say to them, “Is it not written, ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL THE NATIONS’? But you have made it a ROBBERS’ DEN.”
І почули про це книжники та первосвященики, і шукали нагоди, як би то Його погубити, але боялися, бо весь народ захоплювався Його вченням.
The chief priests and the scribes heard this, and began seeking how to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching.
А як ставало пізно, вони виходили за межі міста.
When evening came, they would go out of the city.
Проходячи вранці, вони побачили смоківницю, яка вся аж від кореня всохла.
As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up.
І, згадавши, Петро каже Йому: Учителю, дивися: смоківниця, яку Ти прокляв, усохла!
Being reminded, Peter said to Him, “Rabbi, look, the fig tree which You cursed has withered.”
У відповідь Ісус промовив до них: Майте віру Божу!
And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God.
Запевняю вас, що коли хто цій горі скаже: Зрушся і кинься в море, — і не буде сумніватися у своєму серці, але буде вірити, що станеться згідно зі сказаним, — то так і буде йому.
“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.
Тому Я кажу вам: Усе, про що молитесь і просите, — вірте, що одержите, і сповниться вам.
“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.
І коли ви стоїте на молитві, прощайте, коли маєте щось проти когось, щоб і ваш Отець Небесний простив вам ваші провини.
“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.
[Коли ж ви не прощаєте, то й ваш Отець Небесний не прощатиме вам ваших провин].
[“But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions.”]
І знову вони прийшли до Єрусалима. Коли Він ходив у храмі, підійшли до Нього первосвященики, книжники і старші,
Jesus’ Authority Questioned
They came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to Him,
та й кажуть Йому: Якою владою Ти все це робиш? Або хто дав Тобі владу чинити оце?
and began saying to Him, “By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?”
А Ісус відповів їм: Запитаю вас [і Я] дещо. Якщо відповісте, то і Я скажу вам, якою владою це чиню.
And Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
Хрещення Івана було з неба чи від людей? Дайте мені відповідь!
“Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men? Answer Me.”
Вони міркували між собою, говорячи: Якщо скажемо, що з неба, то запитає: Чому ж ви йому не повірили?
They began reasoning among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’
А якщо скажемо, що від людей… Вони боялися народу, адже всі вважали Івана за справжнього пророка.
“But shall we say, ‘From men’?” — they were afraid of the people, for everyone considered John to have been a real prophet.
