    Рано-вранці первосвященики зі старшими, книжниками та всім синедріоном учинили раду; зв’язавши Ісуса, повели й передали Пилатові.

    Jesus Delivered to Pilate

    And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate.

    І запитав Його Пилат: Ти — Цар юдеїв? А Він у відповідь мовив йому: Ти кажеш!

    And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.”

    А первосвященики дуже Його звинувачували.

    And the chief priests accused him of many things.
  • 4
    Пилат знову запитав Його, кажучи: Ти нічого не відповідаєш? Дивись, як багато Тебе звинувачують!

    And Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.”

    Та Ісус більше нічого не відповідав, тож дивувався Пилат.

    But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.

    Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified

    Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner for whom they asked.

    Був же один, котрий звався Вараввою, ув’язнений з бунтівниками, які під час заколоту вчинили вбивство.

    And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Barabbas.

    Натовп підійшов і став просити, щоби поступив, як і завжди.

    And the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he usually did for them.

    Пилат у відповідь сказав їм: Чи хочете, щоб я відпустив вам Царя юдеїв?

    And he answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?”
  • 10
    Тому що він знав, що через заздрощі первосвященики Його видали.

    For he perceived that it was out of envy that the chief priests had delivered him up.
  • 11
    Первосвященики ж підбурили юрбу, щоби краще відпустив їм Варавву.

    But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release for them Barabbas instead.

    Пилат знову сказав їм у відповідь: То що хочете, щоб я вчинив з Тим, Якого ви називаєте Царем юдеїв?

    And Pilate again said to them, “Then what shall I do with the man you call the King of the Jews?”

    Вони ж знову закричали: Розіпни Його!

    And they cried out again, “Crucify him.”
  • 14
    А Пилат запитав їх: Тож яке зло вчинив Він? Та Вони ще сильніше закричали: Розіпни Його!

    And Pilate said to them, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify him.”

    І Пилат, бажаючи догодити людям, відпустив їм Варавву, а Ісуса після бичування видав на розп’яття.

    So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourgeda Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

    Воїни повели Його до середини двору, тобто в преторій, і скликали весь підрозділ.

    Jesus Is Mocked

    And the soldiers led him away inside the palace (that is, the governor’s headquarters),b and they called together the whole battalion.c

    Зодягли Його в багряницю, поклали на Нього сплетеного тернового вінка

    And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him.
  • 18
    і почали вітати Його: Радій [1] , Царю юдейський!

    And they began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

    Били Його по голові тростиною, плювали на Нього і, падаючи на коліна, поклонялися Йому.

    And they were striking his head with a reed and spitting on him and kneeling down in homage to him.

    А коли наглумилися над Ним, скинули з Нього багряницю і зодягли в Його одяг. І повели, щоб розіп’яти Його.

    And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. And they led him out to crucify him.

    Примусили одного перехожого — Симона Киринейського, який повертався з поля, батька Олександра та Руфа, — взяти Його хреста.

    The Crucifixion

    And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross.

    And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull).

    Давали Йому [пити] вино зі смирною [2] , але Він не взяв.

    And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.

    І розіп’яли Його, і розділили Його одяг, кидаючи жереб, хто що візьме.

    And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take.

    Була третя година [3] , як розіп’яли Його.

    And it was the third hourd when they crucified him.

    І написали Його провину так: Цар юдейський.

    And the inscription of the charge against him read, “The King of the Jews.”

    З ним розіп’яли двох розбійників: одного праворуч, а другого ліворуч від Нього.

    And with him they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left.e

    Перехожі лихословили Його, похитуючи своїми головами й кажучи: Овва, Ти, Який руйнуєш храм і за три дні відбудовуєш!

    And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

    Спаси Себе Самого — зійди з хреста!
  • 30
    save yourself, and come down from the cross!”

    Так само й первосвященики між собою говорили й глузували разом із книжниками: Інших спасав, а Себе не може спасти!

    So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself.

    Христос, Цар Ізраїлю, нехай зійде тепер з хреста, щоб ми побачили і повірили [в Нього]! Розп’яті з Ним також насміхалися з Нього.

    Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also reviled him.

    Коли настала шоста година [4] , темрява оповила всю землю — до дев’ятої години [5].

    The Death of Jesus

    And when the sixth hourf had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.g

    А о дев’ятій годині Ісус закричав гучним голосом: Елої, Елої, лама савахтані! Що означає в перекладі: Боже мій, Боже мій, чому ти Мене покинув?

    And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

    Деякі з тих, які там стояли, почувши те, казали: Дивися, кличе Іллю [6]!

    And some of the bystanders hearing it said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”

    А один, побігши, наповнив губку оцтом, прикріпив її до тростини і дав Йому пити, примовляючи: Чекайте, подивимося, чи прийде Ілля Його зняти!

    And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.”

    And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last.

    І завіса в храмі роздерлася надвоє — згори додолу.

    And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

    Сотник, який стояв напроти Нього, побачивши, як Він віддав духа, промовив: Справді, Ця Людина була Божим Сином!

    And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way heh breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Soni of God!”

    There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.

    When he was in Galilee, they followed him and ministered to him, and there were also many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.

    Jesus Is Buried

    And when evening had come, since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

    прийшов Йосиф, котрий з Ариматеї, — шанований радник, який сам очікував Божого Царства, — і наважився піти до Пилата й просити тіло Ісуса.

    Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

    Пилат здивувався, що Він уже помер; викликавши сотника, запитав Його, чи давно помер?

    Pilate was surprised to hear that he should have already died.j And summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he was already dead.

    And when he learned from the centurion that he was dead, he granted the corpse to Joseph.

    Той купив полотно, зняв Його тіло, обгорнув полотном і поклав Його до гробниці, яка була висічена в скелі, і до входу в гробницю привалив камінь.

    And Josephk bought a linen shroud, and taking him down, wrapped him in the linen shroud and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.
