Tradition and Vain Worship
Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.

І помітили, що деякі з Його учнів їли хліб нечистими, тобто немитими, руками.
And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.
Адже фарисеї і всі юдеї не їдять, якщо добре не вимиють рук, дотримуючись передань старших.
For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
І, повернувшись з торгу, поки не помиються, не їдять. Є і багато чого іншого, що вони прийняли, щоби дотримуватися: миття чашок, глечиків, мідного посуду, лежаків.
And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.
І запитують Його фарисеї та книжники: Чому Твої учні не дотримуються передань старших і немитими руками їдять хліб?
Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
А Він відповів їм: Добре Ісая пророкував про вас, лицемірів, як написано: Цей народ устами шанує Мене, серце ж їхнє далеко від Мене.
He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Та даремно поклоняються Мені, навчаючи людських заповідей.
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Залишивши Божу заповідь, ви тримаєтеся людських передань: [миєте глечики, чашки й робите багато чого іншого, подібного до цього].
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
І Він говорив їм: Ви вміло відкидаєте Божу заповідь, аби лише зберегти передання ваші.
And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Адже Мойсей сказав: Шануй свого батька і свою матір; і ще: Хто лихословить батька або матір, нехай смертю помре.
For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
Ви ж кажете: Якщо хто скаже батькові або матері: корван, тобто дар Богові є те, що ви мали б одержати від мене,
But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
то після цього вже дозволяється нічого не робити для батька чи для матері, —
And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
усуваєте Боже Слово оцим вашим переданням, яке ви ж і встановили. І робите багато інших подібних речей!
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
І, покликавши знову людей, казав їм: Послухайте Мене всі та зрозумійте.
What Defiles a Man
And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:

Нічого немає поза людиною, що входило б у неї і робило б її нечистою, але те, що виходить із неї, — те людину опоганює.
There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
І коли від людей Він увійшов до оселі, то учні запитали Його про притчу.
And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
А Він сказав їм: Невже й ви такі нездогадливі? Хіба не розумієте, що все, що ззовні, входить у людину, не може зробити її нечистою,
And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
бо воно не йде до серця, а в шлунок, і потім виходить — так очищується всяка їжа?
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
Він продовжував: Що виходить з людини, те її робить нечистою.
And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
Адже зсередини, з людського серця виходять злі думки, розпуста, крадіжки, вбивства,
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
перелюб, захланність, лукавство, обман, безсоромність, заздрість, богозневага, гордощі, безумство.
Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
Усе це зло зсередини виходить і людину опоганює!
All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Вирушивши звідти, Він попрямував у землі Тирські [і Сидонські]. І, ввійшовши в дім, Він хотів, щоб ніхто не довідався про Нього, але Він не зміг утаїтися.
The Faith of the Syrophoenician Woman
And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.

Як тільки почула про Нього жінка, дочка якої мала нечистого духа, вона прийшла й припала до Його ніг;
For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
жінка була грекиня, родом із Сирофінікії; вона благала Його, щоб вигнав біса з її дочки.
The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
А Він сказав їй: Хай спершу наситяться діти, бо недобре забрати хліб від дітей і кинути щенятам.
But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.
А вона у відповідь каже Йому: Так, Господи, але ж і щенята під столом їдять крихти після дітей!
And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.
І Він сказав їй: За ці слова — іди; біс уже вийшов з твоєї дочки.
And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
Коли вона повернулася додому, то побачила, що дитина лежала на ліжку, і біс вийшов з неї.
And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
Залишивши околиці Тира й Сидона, Ісус знову прийшов до Галилейського моря, на територію Десятимістя.
Jesus Heals a Deaf and Mute Man
And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

І привели до Нього глухонімого, і просили Його, щоби поклав на нього руку.
And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
Відвівши його вбік від натовпу, Він вложив Свої пальці в його вуха і, плюнувши, доторкнувся до його язика,
And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;
та, звернувши погляд до неба, зітхнув і каже йому: Еффата [1]! тобто: Відкрийся!
And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
І враз відкрилися його вуха, і розв’язалися пута його язика, і він заговорив виразно.
And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
Ісус звелів їм, аби нікому про це не говорили. Та чим більше Він їм забороняв, тим більше вони розголошували.
And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
