    The Wedding at Cana

    On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

    Ісус зі Своїми учнями також був запрошений на весілля.

    Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.

    Як забракло вина, Ісусова мати каже Йому: Не мають вина!

    When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”

    А Ісус їй каже: Що до того Мені й тобі, жінко? Ще не настав Мій час.

    And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”

    Його мати промовила до слуг: Зробіть, що тільки Він вам скаже.

    His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
  • 6
    Було там шість кам’яних посудин для води, яку використовували для юдейського очищення; кожна вміщала дві чи три міри [1].

    Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.a

    Каже їм Ісус: Наповніть посудини водою! І наповнили їх ущерть.

    Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.

    Ще каже їм: Тепер зачерпніть і занесіть до старости! І вони понесли.

    And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.

    Коли староста покуштував воду, яка стала вином, то не знав, звідки воно; слуги ж, які зачерпували воду, знали, тоді староста закликав молодого,

    When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom

    та й каже йому: Кожна людина подає спочатку добре вино, а гірше — як нап’ються; [а] ти зберіг добре вино дотепер!

    and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”

    Такий початок чудес зробив Ісус у Кані Галилейській, виявивши славу Свою; і Його учні повірили в Нього.

    This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

    Після цього Ісус пішов у Капернаум: Він Сам, Його мати, Його брати та Його учні; і пробули вони там декілька днів.

    After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothersb and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

    Та наближалася юдейська Пасха, і Ісус прийшов у Єрусалим.

    Jesus Cleanses the Temple

    The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

    І побачив у храмі тих, які продають овець, волів і голубів, і сидять міняльники грошей.

    In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there.
  • 15
    Зробивши бича з мотузків, Він вигнав усіх із храму, овець і волів, розсипав гроші у міняльників, а столи поперевертав.

    And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables.

    А тим, які продавали голубів, сказав: Заберіть їх звідси! Не робіть дому Мого Отця домом торгівлі!

    And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.”

    Згадали Його учні, що написано: Ревність до Твого дому з’їдає Мене!

    His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
  • 18
    У відповідь на це юдеї запитали Його: Яку ознаку покажеш нам, що таке Ти робиш?

    So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?”
  • 19
    Відповів Ісус і сказав їм: Зруйнуйте цей храм, — і за три дні Я підніму його.

    Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
  • 20
    Тоді юдеї сказали: Сорок шість років будувався цей храм, а Ти за три дні піднімеш його?

    The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple,c and will you raise it up in three days?”

    Він же говорив про храм Свого тіла.

    But he was speaking about the temple of his body.

    Коли Він воскрес із мертвих, то згадали Його учні, що Він це говорив, — тож повірили і в Писання, і в сказані Ісусом слова.

    When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

    А коли Він був у Єрусалимі на святі Пасхи, то багато людей, побачивши ті чудеса, які Він творив, повірили в Його Ім’я.

    Jesus Knows What Is in Man

    Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.

    Сам же Ісус не звірявся їм, бо Сам знав усе

    But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people
  • 25
    і не мав потреби, щоби хтось свідчив про людину, адже Сам знав, що було в людині.

    and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.
