Jesus is Our Advocate
My children, these things I write to you in order that ye may not sin; and if any one sin, we have a patron with the Father, Jesus Christ [the] righteous;

Він — примирення за наші гріхи, і не тільки за наші, а й за гріхи всього світу.
and *he* is the propitiation for our sins; but not for ours alone, but also for the whole world.
З того дізнаємося, що ми Його пізнали, якщо дотримуємося Його заповідей.
And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
Хто каже, що пізнав Його, а заповідей Його не дотримується, той неправдомовець, і в ньому немає правди.
He that says, I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
А хто дотримується Його слова, у тому Божа любов справді є досконалою. Із цього пізнаємо, що ми в Ньому.
but whoever keeps his word, in him verily the love of God is perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him.
Хто каже, що в Ньому перебуває, той має жити так само, як жив Він.
He that says he abides in him ought, even as *he* walked, himself also [so] to walk.
Любі, не нову заповідь пишу вам, але заповідь давню, яку маєте від початку. Давня заповідь — це слово, яке ви чули.
A New Command
Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which ye have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye heard.

Знову я вам пишу нову заповідь, яка справді є в Ньому і у вас, що темрява минає, і вже сяє істинне світло.
Again, I write a new commandment to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light already shines.
Хто каже, що він перебуває у світлі, а ненавидить свого брата, той ще досі в темряві.
He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness until now.
Хто любить свого брата, той перебуває у світлі й у ньому немає спокуси.
He that loves his brother abides in light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.
А хто ненавидить свого брата, той — у темряві, він ходить у пітьмі й не знає, куди йде, бо темрява зробила його очі незрячими.
But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he goes, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
Пишу вам, дітоньки, бо Його Ім’ям прощено вам гріхи.
I write to you, children, because [your] sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
Пишу вам, батьки, тому що ви пізнали Споконвічного. Пишу вам, юнаки, бо ви перемогли лукавого.
I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked [one]. I write to you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
Написав вам, діти, адже ви пізнали Отця. Написав вам, батьки, бо ви пізнали Того, Хто від початку. Написав вам, юнаки, оскільки ви сильні, і Боже Слово перебуває у вас, і ви перемогли лукавого.
I have written to you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and ye have overcome the wicked [one].
Не любіть світу, ні того, що у світі: коли хто любить світ, у тому немає любові Отця.
Do Not Love the World
Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one love the world, the love of the Father is not in him;
Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one love the world, the love of the Father is not in him;
Адже все, що у світі, це: пожадливість тіла, пожадливість очей і життєва гордість; це не від Отця, а від світу.
because all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Проминає і світ, і його пожадання, а той, хто виконує Божу волю, — залишається вічно.
And the world is passing, and its lust, but he that does the will of God abides for eternity.
Діти, це остання година, бо ви чули, що антихрист надходить, і нині з’явилося багато антихристів. Із цього дізнаємося, що це остання година.
Beware of Antichrists
Little children, it is [the] last hour, and, according as ye have heard that antichrist comes, even now there have come many antichrists, whence we know that it is [the] last hour.

Вони вийшли від нас, але не були нашими, бо якби були з наших, то залишилися би з нами, але це сталося, щоб виявилося, що не всі вони є з наших.
They went out from among us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have surely remained with us, but that they might be made manifest that none are of us.
Та ви маєте помазання від Святого, і всі ви знаєте.
And *ye* have [the] unction from the holy [one], and ye know all things.
Я написав вам не тому, що ви не знаєте правди, але тому, що ви її знаєте, і що всякий обман не від істини.
I have not written to you because ye do not know the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Хто неправдомовець, як не той, хто відкидає, що Ісус є Христос? Це антихрист, він відрікається від Отця і Сина!
Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? *He* is the antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
Кожний, хто відрікається від Сина, не має і Отця. Хто визнає Сина, той має і Отця.
Whoever denies the Son has not the Father either; he who confesses the Son has the Father also.
[Отже] те, що ви почули від початку, нехай воно у вас перебуває. Якщо у вас перебуватиме те, що ви почули від початку, то й ви перебуватимете в Сині та в Отці.
As for *you* let that which ye have heard from the beginning abide in you: if what ye have heard from the beginning abides in you, *ye* also shall abide in the Son and in the Father.
Ось обітниця, яку Він Сам нам пообіцяв: вічне життя!
And this is the promise which *he* has promised us, life eternal.
Це написав я вам про тих, які обманюють вас.
These things have I written to you concerning those who lead you astray:
А помазання, яке ви прийняли від Нього, воно у вас перебуває, і ви не потребуєте, щоб вас хтось навчав. Але як те помазання навчає вас у всьому, — і є істинне й необманне, — так, як воно вас навчило, у тому й перебувайте.
and *yourselves*, the unction which ye have received from him abides in you, and ye have not need that any one should teach you; but as the same unction teaches you as to all things, and is true and is not a lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in him.
А тепер, дітоньки, залишайтеся в Ньому, щоб, коли з’явиться Він, ми мали сміливість і не були засоромлені перед Ним під час Його приходу.
