Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

І що ти почув від мене при багатьох свідках, те передай вірним людям, які будуть спроможні й інших навчити.
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
[Ти ж] перенось злигодні, як добрий воїн Ісуса Христа.
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Жодний воїн, щоби догодити тому, хто найняв його, не зв’язує себе життєвими справами.
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
Якщо ж хто й буде змагатися, то не отримає вінця, якщо не буде боротися законно.
And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
Робітникові, який працює, першим належить одержати з плоду.
The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
Зрозумій те, що кажу: [нехай] Господь дасть тобі розуміння в усьому.
Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
Пам’ятай про воскреслого з мертвих Ісуса Христа, Який з нащадків Давида — згідно з моєю Доброю Звісткою,
Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
за яку я переношу злигодні — до кайданів включно, наче злочинець. Але Боже Слово не ув’язнити!
Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
Тому все терплю заради вибраних, щоб і вони отримали спасіння в Ісусі Христі з вічною славою.
Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
Вірне слово: якщо ми з Ним померли, то з Ним і житимемо;
It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
якщо терпимо, то будемо з Ним і царювати; якщо відречемося, то й Він відречеться від нас;
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
якщо ми невірні, то Він залишиться вірним, бо Себе зректися не може.
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Нагадуй про це й застерігай перед Богом, щоб не займалися словесними змаганнями, бо це не приносить користі, хіба лише слухачам на руїну.
The Lord's Approved Workman
Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

Постарайся представити себе гідним перед Богом, бездоганним працівником, який наставляє на принципи істини.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
А пустих балачок уникай, бо вони дедалі більше підштовхуватимуть до безбожності.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
Їхнє слово буде поширюватися, немов гангрена. Такими є Гіменей і Филит,
And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
які відпали від істини, заявляючи, ніби воскресіння вже було, і цим відвертають декого від віри.
Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
А тверда Божа основа стоїть, маючи таку печать: Господь знає Своїх, а також: Нехай відступить від неправди кожний, хто прикликає Господнє Ім’я!
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
У великому домі є не лише золоті й срібні посудини, а й дерев’яні та глиняні; одні для почесного вжитку, інші — для непочесного.
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
Отже, якщо хто очистить себе від цього, то буде посудом для почесного вжитку — освячений, корисний для Володаря, готовий для кожного доброго діла.
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
Уникай молодечих пожадань, настирливо шукай праведності, віри, любові, миру з тими, які кличуть до Господа від чистого серця.
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
А нерозумні й необґрунтовані суперечки обминай, знаючи, що вони породжують сварки.
But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
Адже Господній раб не повинен сваритися, але має бути до всіх привітний, здатний навчати, терпеливий,
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
такий, хто з лагідністю наставляє противників, чи не дасть їм Бог покаяння, щоби пізнали істину
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
